1) No guarantee that Vazquez will be traded. Even if he is, no guarantee the Twins won't have to eat some salary. 2) The Twins just traded for a guy that would effectively fill the Vazquez role should he be gone. 3) McCann is not an upgrade over Vazquez. This article might have made more sense before the Gasper trade. Now it feels dated...

You listed the top three OPS+ position players still on the roster. Add Miranda and Larnach to your list and no one else was over 110. If those three drop, then an already negative outlook for 2025 looks devastatingly bad.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying here. IMO the guys you have 3-7 in the lineup are relatively interchangeable, with lot depending on how they are playing on any given day. I am a big believer on getting AB for your best hitters and OB guys, so there is an argument to be made that Buxton and Larnach should be 3/4 moving Lewis down. But there is still a lot of uncertainty around, well... that whole group.

You can argue on-field production against salary, but moving Correa does a few things: 1) Kills public perception. Correa waving his no-trade indicates he has given up on this team. By trading Correa, the Twins would be waving the white flag and be saying a rebuild is coming. 2) Kills television revenue. On old TV contracts, the Twins got paid whether they were competitive or not. The Twins new television contract requires subscriptions to make money, meaning an entertaining on-field product. Trading your best player does not help this situation. 3) Kills clubhouse. See #1. Morale would fall into the Pit of Despair. 4) Creates a gaping hole at SS and in the lineup, with nobody ready to fill those shoes.

Wade would fit on the field. I would be fine if they brought in Polanco on a very small, make good contract. Polanco could also provide some insurance at 2B (not to mention the clubhouse presence). I am curious how Solano would fit in this discussion. So many posters are arguing to let the younger guys roll. Generally teams that run 5-6 guys with 1-2 years of experience are rebuilding. Though they are not spending money, that is not happening here. There is a reason why the Twins continue to look to fill 1B, 2B, OF4 even though they have Miranda. Lee, et. al. They obviously do not have 100% confidence in these guys and want a veteran presence for insurance.

3 Twins In "No Man's Land" Headed Into 2025
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Another article that probably could have included 3 more players... Other than injuries, inconsistency has been the best word to describe Twins players over the last few years. Up one day, down the next. Stretches of brilliance, then huge droughts. I am waiting to see if the team decides they want them to be a relied upon regular in the lineup.- 37 replies

Pohlads Decry 'A Christmas Carol' Ending
Fire Dan Gladden replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Was this the security video of the Twins ownership office during a 2001 of this movie? -
So a team that is supposedly fighting for the postseason (Twins) trades an inexpensive, very useful player for what exactly? Prospects? One of two things needs to happen: - You add a correct piece or two, or make a substantial trade that is an upgrade and make an effort or - You blow this team up, trade anyone not under arbitration control for the next 3 years, and get the salary under $80m Every article/discussion here is about how much can the the Twins cut and still be competitive. I am not sure how much more there is to give.

There are really 2-3 holes right now that need to be addressed: Starting corner OF 4th OF that can play CF Capable 1B There are potential in-house options (less so at 1B depending on how you look at Miranda), but this is where I would expect to see low-level FA signings. The Lee/Martin/Julien still have too much to prove before being handed the reigns. Wallner/Miranda still have not convinced everyone they are 100% MLB ready. This is is why articles like this need to be written.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/pohlad-working-poor-son-of-great-depression-to-one-of-u-s-s-wealthiest-dealmakers ...Pohlad left Gonzaga after his second football season and returned to Iowa to work at Federal Discount Corp., a finance company headed by Russell Stotesbery, who had married Helen, one of Pohlad's sisters. I agree about paying retail. Lopez would be the only "retail" pay here. The discount with Ryan/Ober is in extending them out of their arbitration years by a year or two and getting those "FA" years at a discount. Extending an SP4/5 like SWR is not a huge priority IMO. He still has a lot to prove. I would not lock in Duran at all. His stuff does not match his results. Locking him in would be an overpayment.

Steal from everyone else. There are many pro sports teams everywhere attempting to do just this. Don't limit your search to baseball. Copy what other teams are doing that is successful. Things that may seem obnoxious can be fun (the Twins had a month of throwing around summer sausage for crying out loud). There are reasons why the StP Saints, the Savannah Bananas, the Harlem Globetrotters can draw huge crowds. As much as we like to think pro sports are competitions, first and foremost they are entertainment.

Please Come to Minnesota, Roki Sasaki
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not completely outside the realm of possibility. Correa is here after all. That being said, the California alure, especially the Dodgers, will probably be too much to ignore. -
I can understand the theory behind this, but I am not sure what an extension would look like. IMO, any contract would need to have guarantees based on playing time. There is no way on this planet Boras would go for that. Lewis' performance at the plate has been good, but not elite. His defense is questionable. His health is questionable. Is there potential? Of course. His lack of health means any straight extension would likely require an overpay on the Twins part. If you were going to discuss extension candidates, my order of priority would be: Ryan Ober Lopez Lewis Jeffers

You do realize you can insert any other Owner/GM in baseball in to those statements and they would be 100% accurate...

Can we please do away with the notion that Castellano needs to stay on the big league roster all year? If the Twins like him, but feel he needs some work in MiLB, they will work out a trade to keep him.
