  1. Yep, draw it up ... Odorizzi for 5.2, Stashak 1.1, Graterol 1.0, Alcala 1.0 .... Hit 5 bombas and sweep the Sox out of town!
  2. Looks like Jeremy is the only one who let the bong pass at least every other time around In all seriousness, Arraez is a player that appears to have one tool that is off-the-charts good (two if you count plate discipline/ zone control as a separate tool) and then four tools that are currently average at best and probably below average. Those tools can, of course, improve over time (maybe not raw speed) and should be given that opportunity based on the playability of the other-worldly tool(s). If you are rating prospects, it's pretty difficult to move a guy like that way up when he doesn't have prospect shine and as much data/film to work with. I think Thrylos maybe had him ranked the highest, but he tends to be willing to gamble a bit more with ratings against the grain. He nailed this one, but he's missed a few of those too.
  3. I don't understand why Rocco doesn't have him batting leadoff every game. He takes the best at-bats on the team. He gets on. He takes pitches allowing others to see pitches. Starting every game with a 42% chance of immediately putting the opposing pitcher into the stretch seems like a good idea to me. I'd like to watch that for the next ten years or so. I'm a fan. #29, my ass
  4. I like the LRLR pattern and OBP, so ... Arraez Cruz Polanco Garver Kepler Sano Cave Gonzalez Rosario I fear that Eddie wouldn't like this
  5. I knew there would be at least one reason that I should have bought a named jersey. Can I draw a picture of a name and pin it to the back of my jersey like that young Vols fan? Hmmm ... Motter or Heston
  6. I'll take that card falling to the Twins as well. Giolito is going to be a thorn for many seasons, so a break with so many of our own ailing is fine with me. The only problem is that Giolito is the type of hurler they will see in the playoffs. It will be quite the jump from Detwiler, Covey, Sparkman, et al. to Verlander and Cole.
  7. Arraez got to 100 hits in a blink. I can't remember the last Twin to do it so quickly.
  8. Unless Gibson has a miraculous recovery in the next couple days, I say Dobnak with Smeltzer at the ready.
  9. Yep, and it left Clevinger feeling like the movie he always seems to be auditioning for - "Dazed and Confused". Twins Underground Marketing should have a bunch of inflatable "FAH Q" paddles ready to handout at his next TF start. That would be awesome!
  10. At least we're learning good things about Randy Dobnak and Brusdar Graterol. If the season ended today (won't need an 'if' for too long), my playoff rotation is Berrios, Odorizzi, Dobnak, Perez. Smeltzer is the long guy. Rogers, Duffey, Romo, May, Littell and Graterol are in the bullpen. That leaves one bullpen spot up for grabs. Will Dyson get healthy? Is Gibby an option?(experiment #1 = fail) Could the Twins be so fortunate as to have a double K-Rod late addition scenario with Alcala joining Graterol? I guess we have two weeks to find out.
  11. Kick him to the curb. He screwed the team over at the worst possible time. He'll be screwing the team over again by not participating for a quarter of the season and the playoffs. Bad content. Why is it front page?
  12. Michael Pineda screwed this team over big time. I appreciate that Gibson came back and took one for the team, but his delivery is all messed up. I hope the best for him, and I hope he can get effective treatment. He should be shut down. The Twins really need Odorizzi and Berrios to deliver all-star performances this weekend, because starting pitching looks like it will be a patch job the rest of the way. You almost have to offer Odorizzi the QO. I don't care if the Twins have a strong negotiation case with Pineda. I don't want him on the team. Gibson should walk as well. It's a tough business, but his health issues are very concerning. Stewart/Hildenberger = Two no-brainer 40-man openings
  13. Yes to this ^ I still can't believe the best immediate depth option was Ryan LaMarre. De Aza's AAAA numbers look better. I know his leftiness is redundant with Miller, but I'm looking for a professional PA. Miller is only here to run and catch. Don't need to platoon split that.
  14. I think that is the perfect summation. He got BABIP'd by Soto and Zimmerman early with Polanco just out of range on Soto's grounder, but he walked Rendon to setup the second run. Eddie took a bad route and the crosswind helped make him pay for that inside-out Kendrick liner, but Perez lost his focus and served up a pipeshot to Zimmerman.
  15. Too bad there isn't draft pick compensation for losing coaching and management personnel
  16. That sucks. Cave and Kepler still unavailable too. Run for cover, I guess. Looks like a getaway lineup for game one of the Nats series.
  17. It's all hope based on his contribution to the 2017 playoff team and early domination in 2018 when there wasn't much book out on him. I guess he could adjust and become a master locator, but with his stuff, the command has to be impeccable. Otherwise, maybe some of his supporters went out and bought his jersey in 2017 hoping he was the closer in waiting. Maybe they'd like to don that jersey sans mockery.
  18. Sorry, the bag of rose-colored glasses being passed around ran out when it got to me. I smell 3-0 or 3-1 exit in the divisional series.
  19. There aren't enough games - let alone likely situations - to decide if Hildenberger is going to be a good option in a playoff game. Rogers, Romo, Dyson, Duffey, May and Littell all have to be ahead of him. I'd also argue that Thorpe and Smeltzer's leftiness puts them well ahead of him as well. I agree with both posters above. He shouldn't be in consideration for a 2019 postseason bullpen spot. We should let it play out .... in 2020. Hopefully, he has at least one option left. I hope he proves me wrong, but I'm betting against him until I lose a few times.
  20. He isn't a puppy learning where to pee. He's a 30 yo man who should feel some accountability to his profession, especially at the rate he is compensated. Any opinion suggesting that accountability - even harshly suggesting it - is welcome. A lot of fans have invested extra time and money into this exciting season, so there should be complete understanding when someone doesn't take the "aww, he's just a man like you or me, nobody's perfect, give him another chance" path. I would honestly like to see owner collusion at some point with one of these guys and have them all agree that a sacrificial player just won't be signed. I know it would be a MLBPA grievance nightmare, but another message needs to be sent.
  21. I don't think Balazovic or Ober or anyone who wasn't on the team at the beginning of the month is eligible for the post season. They'll have to stay in their cells.
  22. Feels like Eddie's throw to nail Devers is probably the 2019 pinnacle now. As much as I'd like to stay positive like the poster above mentioning opportunity presenting itself, this is just a big black cloud rolling in. Goddamnit.
  23. Eddie, La Tortuga and Perez all delivering. It's a blast back to May. Reignite! Go Twins!
