  1. Would hate to be a visiting RF at Target.
  2. Stats can't begin to touch your excellent assessment.
  3. Going to be hard to keep that Québécois out of the lineup.
  4. I vote for guys with guts. My favorite Twin based on "no guts, no glory" rather than stats. https://www.mlb.com/all-star/ballot Kyle Farmer .270AVG 4HR 15RBI .721OPS Change Vote
  5. "You won't want to take your BirdDogs off, I guarantee it."
  6. 1) Dump Popkins and his two Lieutenants. You can't fire the team. 2) DFA Kepler 3) DFA Pagan Promote on interim basis the batting coach job within the system who is doing the best job. Promote Wallner to RF. Promote the best BP pitcher from StPS.
  7. I subscribe to the NYTimes and they have a teaser constantly coming up. The NYTimes bought The Athletic last Nov for $550MM. Knew some changes would be in the wind when The Athletic was purchased. I subscribed to it for a year. But as a baseball only pro sports follower, I couldn't justify a 2nd year. Give me the Sporting News of the '50s and '60s again and I will subscribe.
  8. https://www.milb.com/news/mlb-home-run-derby-x-heading-to-hartford-and-fredericksburg "Members of the public with baseball and softball experience are encouraged to apply for an opportunity to participate in a Draft Day prior to each event, out of which eight men and women will be selected by MLB and Softball Legends to join their teams in a public Home Run Derby X event the next evening. Teams will compete for a cash prize as fans watch under the lights at Hartford’s Dunkin’ Park on August 11 and Fredericksburg’s Virginia Credit Union Stadium on August 26..." After I have had two back, one knee, and two hip surgeries, this old fast pitch softball player is retired.
  9. That's where I quit reading. Each 'side' made their point. Once that's done, move on. I don't have to prove you 'wrong,' and me 'right.' We can just disagree. It's a ballgame after all. It's why I post with my name. It helps me remember to respect you and post only remarks which I would say in person to you. I can disagree with you but I hope not to be disagreeable. If I cross that line with any of you, please message me and we can work it out. Boards are one dimensional. We can't see the twinkle in one's eye, we don't know when you are pulling my bobber, and the tone can escalate. Go Twins. And let me tell you about Pagan (winks)...
  10. Read thru the posts and glad I missed this one -- gardening. Corn is finally in.
  11. 17 Ks w/9 runs. Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio.
  12. Molitor, when quizzed about why no bunting skills:...: "As I travel around our minor league camps, batters don't even begin their batting practice with a couple of bunts the way we always used to." He also mentioned the stress on analytics and the HR chase. You could get an earful from him about this.
  13. That was my thought in Phoenix, watching him. Have to watch him more but Arraez may have more bat control.
  14. How has Plouffie been doing color?
  15. MLB radio listener. I can tune out all the commercials but the Birddogs one is about to push me over the cliff. This repetition would make any prisoner give up anything the police needed.
  16. At first, didn't know who you guys were referring (DB). Who is going to take credit for first penning it?
  17. Apathy possibly setting in….? My guess is that the mods feel that threads have too much negativity. My take as a new comer. The negativity does not seep into the other topics (assuming that criticism qualifies as negativity) on the forum. These forums are some of the cleanest boards I have seen. If there are folks who chronically cross the border, message them and ask them, adult to adult, to raise the quality of posts. Meanwhile, I have thoroughly enjoyed the boards to include game threads. Glad to hear from all of you.
  18. Though I wouldn't have them wear it, this was a classic.
  19. TD/Cody grabs the obvious, glaring failure of the Twins' organizational hitting plan. Stats don't lie. The FO embraces an analytic game plan. Why can't they see, acknowledge, change course and reverse obvious failure? Where is the leadership?
  20. Lewis raised his BA by 82 points to .270 in one game. Schooled the lineup on hustle. Beating out the infield hits a good sign; the nasty tumble the other night seems to have left no impact on his health. Looking at the BP usage, seems Lopez, Winder, Moran and Pagan are left to be closers, as needed. Ryan needs to go long here this afternoon.
  21. Toronto radio said, "Well, we may be looking at the B squad this evening....injuries."
  22. He has had almost 9 months off those legs. He has been a steady workhorse; his wheels may be finished.
