  1. Thanks for giving us such an in-depth analysis. If Dobnak can maintain this level a couple of more times, he deserves a call.
  2. It's a conundrum, but if the bullpen is still shaky and we can get someone like Hand, why not?
  3. Personally, when the time comes, I'd shop Schoop and keep Arraez. I'd love at least one guy who is always getting on base, either by way of BB or singles. I'd like to keep Marwin around for his flexibility.
  4. Great story! We'll certainly keep our eyes open watching for him.
  5. PS: If you're presently on the Hackimer bandwagon, there was a nice article by Fangraphs on him. It seems he is really nerdy--like Trevor Bauer. Here is the link (it's a bit old but worth your 10 minutes): https://blogs.fangraphs.com/twins-prospect-tom-hackimer-on-being-a-pitching-nerd/
  6. Hackimer line for 2019: ERA: 0.84!! G: 19 SV: 1 SVO: 1 IP: 32 H: 13!!!!!!! R: 4 ER: 3 HR: 0!!! BB: 10 IBB:1 SO: 49!! AVG: .125!!! WHIP: .097!! GO/AO: 1.26 Can we just call him up and see what happens?
  7. Eades was an interesting call up--certainly not the person I was thinking about. Let's see how long he lasts. He has had a good strikeout to BB ratio, but his WHIP/BA against/ERA are nothing to get excited about.
  8. According to...??? How do we even know this? Who is talking about this? This sounds more like an unsubstantiated idle rumor than factual data to me. Maybe he attended a service at the ballpark and did his pregame prep. That sounds more likely to me.
  9. BTW, was there any report explaining why Trey Cabbage was suspended? I know that someone had mentioned it previously, but apparently there was no explanation available at that time.
  10. Arraez (to me) is becoming untouchable. He just rakes whatever level he's in. His OBP is also outrageous and he very fleet of foot. He could be a lockdown second baseman for years to come.
  11. Very nice report. Being a top-notch athlete and maintaining a 3.99 is hard to fathom really. He must be extremely disciplined, which bodes very well and for continued development.
  12. The game was great fun until next the bottom of the 9th. Again, I haven't any confidence in Parker. That was about as frightening as a hitless inning can be (while holding a three run lead).
  13. Great pitching and timely hitting. And as for defense, we tend to throw words around like spectacular when players make good catches, but Kerrigan's catch really was spectacular. If you have played in the outfield, you know how tough catches are when you have to dive full-length across your body (opposite your glove, i.e., backhand) because the ball disappears completely from your view. That was really a highlight reel grab. Can anyone tell me how hard Poppen throws? Is he primarily a fastball and slider type of pitcher? That was a pretty dominating performance.
  14. Oh, I forgot about Ron Davis. We always sat in the left field bleachers, and my friend and I would say let's put on our batting helmets; Ron Davis is in the game. There was also Juan Berenguer who I would rank above Ron Davis just because of his nickname.
  15. I read the articles; I check the Fangraphs' game flow; I check the bullpen usage. I ALWAYS check WPA of the players. Please keep it coming! (and many thanks for the efforts)
  16. I confess that my complaints against Parker are purely subjective and have no foundation in any data--just my strange, uncomfortable, gut feeling I get every single time he comes in. (The meltdown was not was not the sole reason for the lowering; although, I may have dropped him from 5th to 7th.)
  17. I think this is exactly the point. Pressly was lights out when he left here, which means that the talent was there. It's hard to imagine landing another Pressly to be honest. (It was the one trade I was very upset about. I just saw no need for it. All of the other trades had some sort of justification that I could understand.) I think we saw the real Parker emerge yesterday. I hold my breath everytime I see his name as the man being called in from the pen. I think he is the next Addison Reed in waiting. We need someone at least on a level with Rodgers who can be lights out.
  18. How do you rank the bullpen members? I'm just curious, really. There are a lot of things that go into the thinking about it ERA/WHIP/SO:BB ratio and feeling (some pitchers just make you more worried than others--a kind of foreboding). 1) Rodgers 2) May 3) Harper 4) Macgill 5) Duffey 6) Morin 7) Parker
  19. Good point!! No need to throw him under the bus, but no need to call him 'all world' just yet. Let's just see what transpires--the sample for this year is still miniscule.
  20. Parker might be a bigger concern than Sano...just maybe.
  21. I do want to also express my thanks. I love reading posts and articles and updates on this site. It really has been a lot of fun.
  22. All of my secret fears about Parker came true in the matter of a few minutes. Uggggh... For quite a long time now, of all of the present relievers, I have felt that it was Parker who was the shakiest and pitching on borrowed time. The repo men (Indians) came to extract their repayment.
  23. Actually, there are plenty of outdoor stadiums and some of them have no infield grass (like the Hanshin Tigers' home field in Osaka--affectionately known as 'Koshien' which brings to mind (for Japanese folks) the spring/summer high school baseball tournaments which are held there--an interesting phenomenon because the Tigers are forced to play away games for the entire tournament every year, so the professional team has to take a backseat to the high schoolers!!). All of the teams also play a percentage of the their games outside of their home stadiums--maybe like four or six series per year. Specifically, they go to smaller urban areas to play some of their games. Some of those stadiums are really not that great. Last year, I went to one game of a three game series featuring the Yomiuri Giants and the Chunichi Dragons. They played at a local stadium about 10 kilometers from where I live. I wouldn't say the field was terrible, but there was no infield grass and the grass in the outfield became extremely slippery over the length of the game (a couple of players slipped). We left early because it was quite a cold evening and the Giants were clobbering the Dragons. I think the score was something like 19-3 in the sixth inning, so there was no reason to stay and freeze to death (and suffer additional humiliation).
