LOL! I was trying to think of pun myself, but just couldn't think of one. You pulled off a nice double steal. Hat tip!

We could add Odorizzi to the list of players no is really talking about, and Cron, and Garver, even Rosario and Buxton. I was reading suggested all stars by various sports gurus and the Twins players were conspicuously absent. Only one analyst had two Twins players on the list (Polanco and Rosario). Of all the others, only one Twin was even mentioned and that by only one guru (surprisingly that was Castro). In a sense, maybe that's the beauty of the Twins; there are different heroes depending on the game.

Free Hackimer! Good to see him back to his old self. One thing I don't like about Blankenhorn is that his name is too long, so it really doesn't fit on the jersey well. I agree with Doc. We have three players tearing it up in AAA, but there aren't any spots open with the big boys.

The high-scoring games are a lot of fun, but I love the low scoring W's.

I am happy to eat a crow burger on Adrianza. He's been proving me wrong consistently. Nevertheless, speaking of regression, let's see if he can keep his BA over .270 for the rest of the season. If that happens, then I will be truly impressed.

Article: Twins Prospect Spotlight: Jake Reed
Aerodeliria replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thanks for the Jake Reed spotlight. I suppose he's next on the merry-go-round of relievers, but I did like what I saw in the clip. Perhaps because of the new sidearm arm slotting, the ball seem to break late and with significant movement. Give him a canteen and let's send him up the hill -

This is slightly off-topic. About once a week, they broadcast a show called the 50 best plays in MLB here in Japan. I always watch hoping to see a Twins highlight or two. They showed Arraez's play at 3rd when Morin was pitching (the team they were playing slips my mind at the moment), I was thinking at the time that Sano probably could not put his glove on the ball, although, I am sure he could have made an equally strong throw had he gloved such a ball. That was a very fine play indeed. Arraez looked like the real deal on that play (granted it is just one play).

Amazingly, you can add Joey Gallo to that list as well. I think he compares very well to Sano. Although Gallo's SO rate is almost identical to previous years at about 35.5, he has refrained from chasing so many bad pitches. His BB rate has climbed a whopping 6.1% from last year, and of course his BA is at a very nice .270+ and of course his OBP is now almost laughable at .421. What about his slugging; it must have dropped off a bit? Hardly. It is almost .100 points higher compared to his best season ever (making his OPS a number that is hard to believe at 1.074). His home run rate is actually up about 1%. In other words, when he does choose to swing, he is getting more hits and still driving the ball. Due to all of these factors, he will be in the all star game. Am I here to trash Sano? No (I don't want to get pelted with frozen homer hankies). I do think he can become a better player and maybe even a star again. We don't have to take the attitude that he can never be... If we think he can't change than we are accepting the notion that he will always be a .225 hitter that hits 35 or so home runs, but also misses frequent opportunities in all situations. That is the Joey Gallo of last year (and all previous years), but the Joey Gallo of this year is an all star for a good reason. Sano has such potential, but will he become that player? That is indeed an interesting and a fair question to be asked.

Maybe check in with Mariners Nation; I'm sure that a few of their faithful might have demanded robot umpires. ;-)

He grooved that pitch to Edwin E. When I saw the location on MLB.com, I said to myself, "Stay in the park." Alas, it did not. The other thing that was not really thrilling me was that after the Twins fought back to tie it, Perez gave back the lead immediately. Loved the bottom of the eighth, though. Great to work that inning for three runs. May was fortunate to get Edwin E. on strikes. Two of those pitches were outside the zone according to MLB.com's tracker--the third strike seemed completely outside of the box-0-not really even close (with about a baseball's width space between the actual pitch and the black). I was wondering if he beefed about it. If the tracker was correct, I'm sure he mumbled something. (Did anyone see footage of it or was anyone at the game? I'm more curious than anything.) CORRECTION: I finally got to see the third strike to EE in the 9th. That was a very nice job of framing by Castro. The pitch looked much better once we saw the video. (It was still a tad outside and perhaps an eyelash low, but with the superb framing by Castro, it looked much better than I had imagined.) It's a win, and we're happy to take it, but as has been mentioned numerous times. If Rogers goes on the IL/IR list, the Twins will be thin on relief pitching.

Ahhh...Hackimer let me down. BTW, I noticed that Hackimer plunks a LOT of hitters. Are those numbers correct? Is this related to his submarine delivery? I'm sure hitters aren't too thrilled to be getting beaned every other game (if the numbers do speak the truth).

Article: 10 Relievers Minnesota Could Target
Aerodeliria replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm of the same mind. Of course, Will Smith and Giles are my favorites on this list. I also like Hand, but it is difficult to see how to land him in a Twins uniform. The players from Arizona are probably still off limits for the time being as they are only a game adrift in the wild card standings (I believe). -
I think it was great that Cruz could take that much rest to heal his sore wrist. He is looking as fresh as he did in those first couple of weeks at the start of the season.

Yup! I lived in Mexico for three years and La Tortuga is correct. It's just a way of classifying nouns as either being feminine of masculine. (It is also true that when words end in 'a,' they tend to be marked with the female article, so 'turtles' whether they are males or females are always marked with the feminine article: la/las.)

Article: Week in Review: Holding Steady
Aerodeliria replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Many thanks for the weekly wrap. I look forward to them. Dobnak, Hackimer and a second try for Smeltzer. I'd go for any of those moves. This would be a very good time to see what we have. If are blowing someone out or are getting blown out, we can test the waters. I really want to see what Hackimer has to offer at the highest level. He has mowed down everyone at every level. He's good for about two innings with a 92-93 mph fastball from down under. If not for one bad inning this year, his ERA would be 0.00 at AA (which BTW followed his one and only three inning stint). PS-We didn't get Keuchel or Kimbrel, but there is a bright side. There is the real possibility that either of those two won't find their form for quite a spell because of a lack of real competition. Lance Lynn was bad or inconsistent until mid-June last year and then he relapsed after a few good games. This was almost certainly because of a lack of actual game play in spring training. It might be easier for the FO to swallow a trade deal because the deal can be made on a player-to-player plane rather than simply being able to outbid other teams. It would be nice if such a pitcher happened to be in mid-season form.- 45 replies

Well, I can't argue your point, but I keep thinking that the Twins took Forsythe for Dozier, maybe it's not a great comparison, but if someone liked Schoop and would then have negotiating power with him and then, we threw in someone to sweeten the pot who had some actual value like say Rooker or Cave, it might be possible.
