  1. Yay! It's nice to not have to sweat out the game until the last out. BTW, please don't send Arraez down and don't trade him...
  2. No, I completely agree! I think it is critical as well. That is what my intent was too. Let's take some momentum into the second half!!
  3. I'm still wondering about Hackimer. Is it top secret stuff? Is it disciplinary?
  4. The errors have been on the rise. I have no idea as to the reason, but being banged up is not an adequate excuse and oddly, players being forced to play other positions has contributed minimally to the problem. Most of these errors are from the infielders who are playing their regular positions, and they have come at costly times during the games.
  5. Boy juggling chainsaws describes Parker to a "T". Is there a special rule that says Parker is not allowed to get the first batter he faces out?
  6. It's the little things that kill you every single time. Six walks and a critical error; if your don't make them earn their way aboard, it becomes that much easier to score runs.
  7. Nice wrap as always. I've always thought Thorpe's stuff would stand up in the big league, but he was given a tough assignment being pitted against Giolito. I was hoping for a little more optimal situation for his debut
  8. Allen's velocity needs to come up a notch or two on the fastball. I noticed that in 2019 his ground ball rate has dropped precipitously (-11%) and naturally that means the long ball rate has jumped (+8%). If that we're not enough, his walks per nine have skyrocketed to almost 8 per 9. I hope they've found a mechanical issue they can work on; otherwise, he's toast.
  9. I don't want to give up four players for Syndergaard. They can keep him for that price. He is an extremely high risk because of injury and recent performance. He's already been on the shelf twice (at least) this season. I think we'd be buying a mirage. The Mets were supposed to be competing for the division crown; I'm sure they were hoping for 10 wins be from Syndergaard at the break. To me, the odds that it's Yu Darvish all over again are extremely high IMHO. I'd consider some risk but not that much.
  10. Ouch! His defense killed Berrios' pitching performance. Oh well, it's good to have another warm body on the field these days.
  11. ぜんぜんだめ。You can guess the meaning.
  12. I think this kind of game was expected, but the errors seem to be on the rise. Twins need to batten down the hatches.
  13. I usually say, 'Free Hackimer,' at this point, but I'm a bit worried about the implications.
  14. He did the La Tortuga spin move there at the end. I think that'll show up on the Best of the MLB on NHK in a couple of weeks. Hand had quite a meltdown against the Royals.
  15. That's the way one should come off the IL. Amazing really.
  16. Brilliant post. Now getting from "A" to "B," that is the question and problem. If he can be convinced that high fastballs can be hit a long way, maybe that would do the trick--with a lot of work. As it stands, I don't think he can viably continue along this plane. I would also note, from the photos, that he appears to be leaning in from the start, whereas Cruz and Trout appear in a balanced position--almost upright. This would add to his woes of pitches up, pitches inside and breaking balls away (because they appear reachable). "...has since entered the land of ten thousand rakes." This made me smile not because of its punability but because of its pronunciabilty...its a Japanese/Asian thing rather than a Minnesota fishing thing.
  17. I have a question to those who have been a little closer to the professional game, and even though this is admittedly off-topic, I'll ask it here. Coaches and managers often talk about pitchers having the same amount of rest in between their starts, but then, when there is an off-day or a rainout (or both), the number of off-days increases, meaning the pitcher will not be pitching on his scheduled day. This leads me to three queries: 1) If a pitcher has additional off-days in between starts, does that help the pitcher perform better or not? (I mean coaches and managers are always talking about making sure their pitching staff is well-rested, but is there such a thing as 'too much rest or over-rested (vs. overworked)?') 2) I know that some managers have tried using a six-man rotation, and I was wondering how that worked out or if it is always just considered a temporary measure... 3) If it is indeed helpful to have additional rest, I am wondering what the downside is to trying to employ a six-man rotation (besides the obvious inability to find six decent starters). I'm sure someone here on the list has all of the answers, so please explicate. Thanks!!
