  1. Schoop hit well earlier in the season, but his flaws concerning pitch selection are coming to fruition at an inopportune time. The Twins had a few chances to sweep the series but didn't hit particularly well with RISP in the finale. Garver's AB after the Arraez double was equally futile, especially down a run. Oh well, we pushed Cleveland back a game. That was the overall goal.
  2. Arraez continues to rake. His OBP is ridiculous, but because his plate discipline is outstanding, it's possible he can keep it above .400. Please don't trade him!
  3. Arraez can play 2nd and should get as many ABs as possible as he continues to flirt with .400 BA.
  4. Nice report as always. I'd like to see Thorpe given another shot the next time we need a fill-in starter. He just keeps getting better and better.
  5. I concur. Occasionally, he falls into to the trap of keeping the starter in too long (especially when the game is tied), but not very often. He seems to know pretty well when to pull the plug.
  6. I want to 'heart' this instead of 'like' it. As we can see now, the confidence in the bullpen is Harper and Rogers; everyone else is only brought in when the Twins have a cushion or are getting trounced.
  7. I think the most palpable improvement has come from Polanco, but Garver's is more subtle and perhaps even more significant because it can reduce the number of pitches that need to be thrown. The sleeper in this mix is Marwin Gonzales. He fills in brilliantly wherever and whenever he's called upon. He can also just give other players a chance to rest now and then. I love having him on the team. I'm wondering how Cron and Schoop stack up on 'D' as well. I have to say this as well; Sano has not been reliable at the hot corner. I know I am risking a hail of poison arrows for saying such things, but I'm just observing. I hope he is working on his throwing as well.
  8. When I saw it was Mejia that was the pitching change, I was pretty certain we would lose the game. His notorious control problems really don't bode well for such situations. I'd rather experiment with other arms than relying on Mejia until he shows he can help the team. For all intents and purposes, up to this point, he's only hurt the team.
  9. PS-When the play is in front of you, that throw to third is quite easy for nearly any centerfielder to make. That's why no one tags up on that play not even speedsters.
  10. I have to disagree with the gushing over Buxton's tag-up to 3rd. Unless the centerfielder turns his back on the infield, one should never run on that play because it doesn't give you any significant advantage and if you get thrown out the runner on 3rd doesn't score, so it's a bad play. Buxton's triple was good play and stealing second to get in scoring position was a good play. "Almost driving in Sano" was not a good at bat and the tag-up was a particularly poor decision because it takes a run off the board.
  11. We won! I hope we score 15 tomorrow so we can use less Rogers and more fill-ins.
  12. Yay! It's nice to not have to sweat out the game until the last out. BTW, please don't send Arraez down and don't trade him...
  13. No, I completely agree! I think it is critical as well. That is what my intent was too. Let's take some momentum into the second half!!
  14. I'm still wondering about Hackimer. Is it top secret stuff? Is it disciplinary?
  15. The errors have been on the rise. I have no idea as to the reason, but being banged up is not an adequate excuse and oddly, players being forced to play other positions has contributed minimally to the problem. Most of these errors are from the infielders who are playing their regular positions, and they have come at costly times during the games.
  16. Boy juggling chainsaws describes Parker to a "T". Is there a special rule that says Parker is not allowed to get the first batter he faces out?
  17. It's the little things that kill you every single time. Six walks and a critical error; if your don't make them earn their way aboard, it becomes that much easier to score runs.
  18. Nice wrap as always. I've always thought Thorpe's stuff would stand up in the big league, but he was given a tough assignment being pitted against Giolito. I was hoping for a little more optimal situation for his debut
