Sorry, but your statement is the one that's false. The trajectory of the ball was nearly vertical by the time it reached the wall. Hitting 15 feet up the wall translates to about 2 feet farther horizontally.

If there was no wall there the ball would have landed about two feet behind where the outfielder was standing.
