    Yes, the pitching has been fantastic so far this game. We can't hit. This is why I was whining so hard last year to get some arms in here. You just don't run across years like that were you hit that well very often.

    Well the Twins are the higher seed so yes, I would assume they are "home team" for more games than the Sox if that happens.

    I'd be careful going forward here. He looks rattled, scared, etc. Not sure what to say but it seems like he doesn't have it today. Give him a batter and see how he looks. If he keeps laboring, time for the BP.

    I like what you are getting at. I agree with almost all of it. It would be nice though to win the playoffs ever. That part is the last thing that needs to come together. Also, Jack Morris cannot be argued against by anyone in being the best FA Twins signing. I don't know if you recall, but he pitched the most important and best game in baseball history. Literally a 10 inning gem that hasn't and won't be closed to replicated ever. I LOVE Cruz, but that one game alone makes him the best FA signing in Twins history.

    This shouldn't be that hard. Maeda(been fantastic this year), Berrios(best stuff of all of them but hasn't been a shutdown type at all during postseason), Pineda(most consistent over the course of a couple years. Then pitch them again next round. Use Hill if a 4th starter is needed. Put Dobby or Odo in the bullpen to use if any of those guys get knocked out early. Or if you get up big and need to rest your horses.

    Pitch Dobnak at all in the playoffs an expect to get beat. He will get hit and hit hard against a tough postseason roster.

    Since I have been watching(mid 80s)Twins developed Viola, Santana, Radke, Berrios. If you are talking about #1-2 type guys. Have they done as well as the Cards and loads of other organizations? No, not even close. I feel like the Twins drafting strategy for quite some time was to take lower ceiling, higher floor type guys. That led to oodles of #4 type starters for quite a stretch. I also don't really understand what your post is trying to ask or say? Kind of jumbled. If you are looking for credit for the Cards organization I would say you have it. They have been one of the most successful over the years in all of baseball.

    Kepler, Buxton, Cave. Anyone that plays outfield for the Twins has done worse than he has at the plate. Much worse in fact Buxton hasn't been on the field and still can't hit, flat out. Eddie is also 2nd on the team in RBIs, 3rd in HRs, and 2nd in OPS among our starters. I get it. But a few games isn't enough to make me want to just move on. I get where you are coming from, but I just keep paying him in arbitration and ride it till we don't have him under team control. Platoon him if you must with younger players.

    I love the runner on 2nd rule as well. This is what they do in the fastpitch softball world. My daughter plays travel ball so I have seen alot of them. Makes extra innings much more fun.

    I love the bullpen games. It allows us to cover up the gaggle of #4 starters in this rotation. As far as calling guys up. I'm cool with it if we think they will help. When it comes down the playoffs though. I want my high dollar guys in the lineup and playing. Yes, Donaldson or Marwin Gonzalez or Mitch Garver might have started slow this year. But who would you rather see in an important postseason at bat? One of them? Or Brent Rooker? How about Trevor Larnach with almost zero experience? Basically, we are making the playoffs. This season is kind of a warm up for that. Getting the guys in your lineup going during the season IMO is more important than testing out 2-3 of your prospects to see if they will help for the playoffs this year when the season is so darn short.

    This is what I would say and most likely what the Twins are thinking as well. Odo would be in there if he had been healthy this year. But as of now, I would say he gives almost nothing this season. He, as of right now is one of the last ones to even make a postseason roster unless we can see he has it going forward. He has a way to go to get back into form. Berrios as well. He can be that #2 playoff starter, but I would be quick with the hook with him if he doesn't improve. Also, with his stuff, he "could be" an excellent choice as a bullpen guy to give you 2 innings or so if the starter that game doesn't have it. Hill too. Quit walking guys or you won't get a start in the playoffs. Even if he does, leash needs to be short if he is having trouble locating.

    It shouldn't be hard though. One of those pitchers that have options or DFA Vargas. No way will they even think twice about dumping Marwin or Ehire.

    No, I mean if you are going to make trades, etc., wait until the offseason after we see how the rest of this year goes. As far as bringing guys up. If the Twins think they will help more than what we have right now, then I'm totally fine with it. Or if the team feels they have a real shot at doing some playoff damage, then fine start the clock on a few of them. I'd have to see more from the team than I have lately though in order to make that decision. Right now, they are looking like one and dones again.

    I'm with you. Normally I hate this kind of inaction and when people say getting players back from the injured list is as good as a trade, etc. However, this year, I didn't see anyone worth going after. We also don't even really know what we have in this team as there haven't been many games played and we have been hit with the injury bug so bad. Let the guys come back, let it play out and lets see what we have going into the offseason.

    Hell no. He has more than proven his worth over the years. You DFA him, he would get scooped up right away.

    Not saying he can't play. But he probably isn't ready to be the type of player they think he will be(at some point) at the major league level right now. If he was, they would have started the season with him on the roster. I agree with you 100% that if Royce comes up, he comes up and is inserted right into a starting role. My guess is we see him next year at some point during the season.

    I'm not sure it is worth burning service time on him yet. He may or may not help. I would guess more than likely though, he is gonna take quite awhile to adjust. Probably not worth it at this point IMO.

    He's a china doll flat out. Everyone knows it. Injury prone as can be. Probably the most injury prone player in Twins history and maybe even in the history of MLB. He is making decisions on his future real easy. He won't be traded any longer IMO and probably won't event be asked for as his value is not much. That or if ever traded he wouldn't bring much back. He also has ZERO leverage with the Twins going forward. His career looks to be a journeyman type that can run and play defense for a 1/3 of a season before he gets hurt each year. Too bad, his talent is undeniable. If it were me, I would just go to arbitration with him going forward and look to sign him for cheap when team control is over. If not, move on. Trying to sign him to a long term deal though after all we know, is IMO super duper risky.

    You can't? Have you followed this club for long? That said, I don't think this was the year to go all in. The team is not playing well. They don't have it this season. Last year was their chance. They were playing great, getting offense we have never seen in Twins territory. But we needed to hang onto prospects that are either hurt all the time or aren't making a difference yet. Even though we have been told how great they are over and over. Pitching would have been nice to have last year. This year, I don't think it is going to matter as alot of guys are coming back down to earth at the plate.

    It's garbage if they do that. But I won't expect any less. 60 games, you have no reason not to give it your all each and every time. During this entitlement expansion period though, I would guess this will be exhibition-like all year. Who knows. Just get them back on the field. Get some normalcy again. Kids are out there playing right now and they are paying to play. These whiners get paid more than god himself and it's been nothing but complain. Get back on the field and get going boys.
