    Understand what kind of player this is before you talk like that. A SS that plays the gold glove caliber defense he does and also is a top of the order hitter is something that doesn't grow on trees. Slightly better than average? LOL come on now.

    What do you guys who want to trade him think you are going to bring back in a trade for basically 2 months of him? He isn't worth much with the contract that he has allowing him to opt out. You will bascially get a B level prospect for him and you will get a team and fan mutiny for trading him. I would bet my house that the FO hasn't even thought about dealing him. If they honestly do move him and it's for a guy that doesn't rate out as a surefire starting caliber MLB player, they should be fired right on the spot.

    I was at the game Friday and Sano looked bad at the plate that night. The outside breaking pitch as usual did him in a couple times. He also took some pitches I though looked hittable early in counts. I was impressed with the Palacious kid though. He looked nice at 3B and hit the ball hard every at bat he took. Looks like he went 2-3 on Saturday as well. Not sure if the Twins have a plan for him, but I was impressed the night I was there.

    Neither has done a thing yet. Both have been average in the minor leagues. I just don't think you can grade it at all yet, let alone declare the Twins winners of this trade. The only thing that is a saving grace SO FAR of this trade is the fact that Berrios hasn't been very good this season. Remember, he was under contract with the Twins this year for a very paltry number. We still could have dealt him at the deadline this year, or just let him walk. Either way, you can't say we won anything when the guys we got back have basically been about average so far and haven't sniffed the major leagues, yet. Can they? Will they? Maybe - probably, then we can figure this out. I also saw something where we say these guys are young for their level. Remember, Berrios debuted in the show when he was 22. His talent far exceeded either of the players we got back for him... Not a win or a loss yet IMO.

    What's the chances he actually comes back? I have heard this kind of talk from the Twins before right before someone gets shut down for the year.

    I'd prefer we didn't give him a huge drawn out super multi-year deal. If it takes us adding another year to his deal that is worth even 50 million or upping even the next two years remaining to a number like that I think it is far preferable than having him here until he is 40 years old. That said, I would hate to see him go, he is magic with the glove and a great hitter for a SS. Work with him on something but just let him know we aren't going to give you 10 years or 300-400 million bucks. Man it even sounds stupid saying that number.

    Because all the dummie teams already have shortstops. Big market teams. Also, the amount of SS out there for sale. Maybe he will, and maybe I am just being more hopeful than anything. I just don't think that those humongous deals are going to dominate much anymore. I'm probably wrong and like I said just hoping more than anything, but 10 year deals are extremely lobsided against the teams that give them about 99% of the time.

    My guess is the market isn't going to be a 7-10-year deal like this guy is writing. 4-5 more years will get him I think. It'll cost, but I am pretty sure the Twins will make a competitive offer. This isn't Terry Ryan. I've been critical of these guys in the past, but they have some stones.

    Seems like an overpay to me by a fair amount. Larnach and Balazovic maybe but that is as much as I think they would give up or even have to.

    I trust only Duran. No one else. Time for a trade or to bring up whatever bullets you have left in the minors. This group isn't getting it done.

    Don't expect anything from Maeda. I have seen that floated in here quite a bit. Not realistic. Most likely, if he pitches, it will be a few mop up innings when rosters expand to get him some work.

    Paddack is young still. He was a top 35 prospect in all of baseball coming up. Look at his minor league numbers, he was a stud. He is better than anything we have in the minors. I like this trade. Hate losing Rogers, but if we weren't going to pay him after this season, then it was a good move. He should scoop up innings for 3 years in a 3-5 role. Hopefully by then, we will have established a better top of the rotation through trade or whatever.

    Hicks is hurt alot too. He had 2 good years in NY. The only thing I am sad about when it comes to Hicks is that the Twins didn't trade him when he was a prospect and his value was high and instead traded him for a poor catcher after his value was in the tank. But I agree, the whole scenario surrounding him was disappointing as it pertains to the Twins.

    Buxton is must see baseball that is for sure. He reminds me of when Johan used to take the mound. You stopped what you were doing to watch because at any time something spectacular might happen. Finally he has figured it out. Now lets hope he stays healthy.

    This is happening all on its own. Baseball is dying and here they are fighting about it. Silly. If this lockout extends for a long period, my guess is that you will see baseball become hockey. Instead of trying to engage more fans and make their product more easily accessible on TV, they are fighting about who needs more money. They are cutting their nose off to spite their face.

    It's not that they can't, it's that they won't. They will get one in the ribs should they do this consistently. Stupid IMO, but that has to be the reason. Even slow guys can get base hits with good bunts against some of these extreme shifts.

    NCAA fastpitch softball starts soon. Hopefully we see more of it on TV this year with baseball being the babies they are. It's a better game anyway. Try it once, I bet you like it.

    I'll be honest, I have zero faith the Twins even know what they are doing when it comes to infielders. They have done nothing but a terrible job with them since Tom Kelly left here. If you have a damn athlete with a strong arm and soft hands, then its up to you to make them a SS.

    I wouldn't pay the guy a ton of money. We have possible the worst pitching staff in the history of Major League baseball right now and have traded away the best pitcher we have for a SS, spent a #1 overall pick on one, and another top 5 pick on one. If money is going to be spent, I prefer it spent on pitching be it starting pitchers or bullpen. Use your guys. This is an epic disaster if we don't get at least one up the middle player out of the best pitcher in our organization and 2 top 5 first round picks.

    Between Gordon, Martin, and Lewis. Our SS is in the organization. If none of those 3 can handle it at the major league level, then it is a failure of epic proportions with the amount of draft and trade capital used to acquire those guys.

    Also, don't give me a bunch of garbage starting pitchers and stopgap SS. If you are going to do that, again, use your minor league system. There are no starters left that are any good. Trade for one. I'd pivot to the bullpen and sign the very best pitcher left on the market. Actually, sign two of them or trade for another. Paying mid level or washed up talent every year just doesn't make sense to me. Why not use your minor league system? Surely this can produce our #3-5/6 starters every year can't it? Why pay 35-40 year old guys to come in here and suck up payroll? Use it on only a few very high end players and fill the gaps with your system.

    It really is sick how many SS the Twins have drafted, held in such high regard and never developed. You have Nick Gordon, Royce Lewis and now you have the Martin kid all in your system at once, all about the right age to debut, and we aren't talking about any of them even having a shot sticking at SS. Honestly, if none of those guys are ready to play up the middle in the big leagues, then it is time to package them up for players that can or pitchers that excite someone. My plan, START one of them. Let's see what you've been working on guys.
