  1. Reading that caption you put above one of the video links: Brusdar Graterol coming at you at 100 mph. Man, how exciting is that! A Twins pitcher with velocity? What a concept! Some exciting prospects on that list.
  2. Trevor May pitched an inning of relief sending down all three batters he faced. Okay, I'll be annoying and ask: what does "sending down" mean? Did he strike out all three batters?
  3. When I saw that Snell was starting for Tampa Bay, my first thought was: oh no, another Twins loss coming up. What a pleasant surprise to be proven wrong. Great game by Gibson! Just the idea of calling Kyle Gibson an All-Star was preposterous a year ago, but now he's certainly pitching like one.
  4. So many choices of players who could and should break out in the second half. I'll roll the dice and pick Buxton as my (very hopeful) choice to click.
  5. Another great catch by Cave. Good to see him getting some love from the fans. And how about that "laser throw" by Rosario to nail a runner trying to score? Good stuff! At least we seem to be able to catch and throw the ball well lately.
  6. I'm hoping that Dozier catches fire this month and some team will take a gamble on him having another torrid second half, along with the "veteran leadership" factor. But which contending team might be needing a second baseman down the stretch? Someone mentioned the Mariners, who are without Cano for the time being (and who would be ineligible for the playoffs even after he comes back), but I can't think of any other team off the top of my head.
  7. I would think that Lance Lynn might end up being our most valuable trade chip. It seems to me that a contending club in need of another solid starting pitcher (albeit, one that can't seem to pitch more than 5 or 6 innings at a time) would grab him.
  8. At this rate I think it's more likely that we see the return of Johan Santana before we see Ervin Santana,
  9. An impressive starting pitching performance, a couple of player with multiple hits. Not a bad game! Then again, we were playing the Orioles.
  10. Well, I think it's obvious that we're sellers as opposed to buyers at this point. Even more so than last year, before our nearly miraculous turnaround. I don't have much hope that this raggedy group of available players will get much in return, but I'm all on board for getting rid of those that have no immediate future with the club. Call up this new wave of players and let 'em play!
  11. I still subscribe to the crazy theory that Belisle has incriminating photos or videos of someone in the front office!
  12. I have to agree with that. The frequent calling players up and then sending them down again quickly (often after only one game) strikes me as counterproductive. This is development?
  13. That darn Broxton robs us again! Time to brush up on my voodoo doll making skills!
  14. At one point even Vargas had some of that highly valued "potential" too. You just never know in this darn game.
  15. Well, plenty of ifs and maybes in that game, but that great catch by Broxton, robbing Mauer of a homer, really really hurt!
  16. I think the Twins would be wise to at least float Gibson's name out there and see what other teams will offer. But I doubt we'd get much in the way of a "great" return, maybe a prospect or two, but certainly not another MLB player. For comparisons sake, what did we give to Tampa Bay for Odirizzi over the winter? Just one A-level player who wasn't even a top prospect. So,if we don't get offered much for him I think the Twins might as well hang on to him and hope his recent form continues. We might need that arm next year.
  17. If any teams needs pitching, offer them Lynn and/or Rodney. At least those two might bring back a reasonable return of a young prospect or two. Otherwise, we ain't got much to offer anyone. Dozier has definitely seen his value plummet and I don't think it's even possible that the Twins would try and trade Mauer. Guys like Grossman would have zero value. And I don't think Santana would tempt anyone unless he came back ASAP and started throwing shutouts.
  18. Oops, thanks for that reminder. I sometimes forget that's part of the waiver process. I hope we can hang on to the kid. Lots of potential there.
  19. I'm not a huge fan of Molitor as a manager, and I think we could easily find a better fit for the team. But I also think it's unfair to blame him for the performance of the team so far this year. Too many injuries and a suspension and other weirdness that's beyond his control.
  20. You wrote: they are however, second in pickoffs with 12. I'm nitpicking here (hey, I was an editor for a few years!), but shouldn't that be second in having runners picked off base, as opposed to having our pitchers excel at making pickoffs? I assume that's what you meant, but I had to read that a few times to figure it out.
  21. Shocked to see that Felix Jorge was released. What's the consensus on why that move was made? Not making any progress with his injury rehab or what? Man, I hope this isn't another Chargois-like move that the Twins will soon regret.
  22. I was becoming seriously worried about Mauer's bleak performance since he returned from the DL, but this was very nice to see! Yeah yeah yeah, only one game, but hopefully it will jump-start him and the rest of the team.
  23. Happy to see Astudillo finally promoted and given a chance. But how much will he actually play? I don't understand why Wilson is still being given so many starts behind the plate.
  24. I noticed in the Roster Moves that you posted the Twins signed Juan Graterol and assigned him to Rochester. My first thought; is he related to our Brusdar Graterol? And then I wondered why he is playing at AAA? Never heard of the guy before .But a quick net search revealed that he was recently with the Angels, among several other organizations. Looking at his Wikipedia page, he tends to get signed by teams and then put on waivers or released a month or two later, never actually having played for the club So ... what's the deal with this guy? No doubt roster filler since we now need another catcher at AAA, but does he have special attributes (hitting, pitch framing, etc.) that will make him worth keeping for a while?
