  1. I don't think the Twins will ever fire Terry Ryan, but I am hoping he decides to walk away from the game this fall and the Twins bring in some fresh blood. Why did I have somewhat high expecations for this team? I guess I thought the starting pitching would be decent (possibly the best since ~07). I also made a mistake in thinking the young guys were ready to take the next step. Instead it feels like it make take some of them 2 years to figure it out and a few of them (Dozier and Plouffe are probably at their peak).
  2. Win this for Merle Frickin Haggard Twins!
  3. Will Sano stay healthy playing 3B or the OF? His hammy was giving him problems as a DH last year. I'd like to keep Plouffe around for this season at least just to see if Sano can stay healthy and hold his own defensively. Santana's suddenly a guy with an opportunity again after the Hicks trade. I would argue that the trade benefits him most as I think it's likely Buxton will not make the club out of Spring training. If Danny plays well the early season OF could be: Rosario LF Santana CF Sano/Arcia/? RF
  4. I would play wait and see with Escobar for one more year. I really liked how he performed this season and last season. It's nice to have someone who not only makes the routine plays, but comes up with clutch hits. On Plouffe, I really hope they keep him in the near term. I don't think you have to extend him yet, but I want to seem him playing 3B, 1B, and DH next year. If Sano can remain healthy and can do the job defensively next season while sharing 3b with Plouffe, then the Twins could look to trade Trevor. I have stated this a few too many times, but I think the guy to trade high on is Dozier. I like the options the Twins have at 2b with Polanco and if he struggles then Rosario. I would try to make this deal early enough in the off season so Eddie knows that he should polish up his infield defense.
  5. He has been my favorite Twins rookie to watch since Christian Guzman. Christian's game was based on speed, but he also played with passion like Eddie. May his career be long!
  6. I agree that they need to consider trading him this offseason. Unless he stops trying to pull everything, he will continue to trend downward. With Polanco and Rosario as options and outfield talent waiting to get into the lineup, Dozier is a perfect guy to dangle in the off season. I don't care if he's cute and that the Twins have invested time and money into marketing him as the guy (Sano and Rosario can take over that role now).
  7. Has anyone done more to promote the negativity around Joe Mauer than Dan Barrero? Pat doesn't always get it right, but he did on this piece.
  8. I think Garza had a little more movement on his fastball, but I might be remembering incorrectly. May's heater while quick is pretty straight.
  9. I'd be very happy for Gardenhire and for the Tigers. He did a great job here and more often than not his teams overachieved. I wonder though if the Tigers are going to be entering into a dry spell?
  10. Milone has been very solid and fun to watch as well. There's something special about a guy who can change speeds and get people out with 76 mph breaking stuff.
  11. It's similar, but is anyone else concerned about Sano's defense or keeping him healthy for his bat? I wouldn't mind seeing Plouffe continue to play for the Twins with the Sano, Plouffe, Mauer (DH, 1B,3B) rotation that we have see this year.
  12. Sounding like a broken record here, but I'd rather the Twins trade Dozier over Plouffe, as I see it being easier to replace 2b defense over 3b defense within the current 40 man roster. Sano also needs to stay healhy and in the lineup and if he either becomes injured or struggles mightily at 3b, it could affect his MVP-esque bat. I also think Plouffe projects as a better long term player than Dozier based on his ability to use all fields.
  13. Yeah I agree that Dozier is still an above average 2b guy (maybe 5th best in the AL), and if he can begin to stop trying to pull everything, he could become a much become a really good player.
  14. Yes, I think Rosario is quick and athletic enough to switch back to 2B and still be a plus offensive and defensive player (bigger plus than Dozier).
  15. This is just speculation on both of our parts, but I predict that Rosario will be a more productive (offensively and defensively) player over the next 8 years (5 even), than Dozier.
  16. Good point, but I guess other than the maybe of Berrios being that "ace", I'm not sure which of the number 3 or 4 starters I would use. Right now, I would say Milone would give the Twins the best chance for a quality start.
  17. My bad on Uggla. It was Florida that sold high on him. Maybe this current Twins roster is good enough to compete as is. After they have won 5 in a row it sure seems a lot more optimistic right? I just think the position that the club has the best ability to reload at is 2B, and they could fetch a good ppitcher or catcher for Dozier in the offseason. Unless Dozier learns to hit outside pitching to the opposite field, I think he will start to struggle more as pitcher's will adjust.
  18. I'd love to see Berrios called up soon and if he does well, he could be the starter in the Wild Card game. SP: Berrios Milone Duffey Pelfrey or Hughes (if Hughes is healthy)
  19. How is trading Dozier different than the Braves trading Uggla during their run? Or the Twins trading Knoblauch? Maybe it's because it seems the Twins are close to success now? I hope this is the case, but to me the Twins would be selling high on Dozier and have someone very capable (Rosario) ready to step in.
  20. Not trying to be contrary, but for me it would be letting the Big Pelf walk. He along with Milone have been very solid this year and I am hoping they are both a part of 2016's team. I would love to see Dozier traded for a starting catcher with Rosario sliding to 2b or Polanco taking over 2nd.
  21. Eddie has been a pleasure to watch this year. He has the talent and he appears to have the mental make up to have a very good and long MLB career. He is one of the Twins players (along with Sano and Buxton) that hopefully the Twins can build around.
  22. Plouffe and Dozier will definitely net the most in return and the Twins have options at both positions. I like the idea of Rosario sliding back to 2B if Polanco still has the ability to become a short shop.
  23. Even though this is going to be unpopular with the casual fans, I believe this is the best option for a return to a good baseball team. The Twins just don't have enough talent that is close to being ready at several key positions, and this luke warm rebuild is never going to progress when the best players on the team are guys like Dozier and Plouffe. Trade them when they have value and build young with Rosario, Hicks, Kepler, Buxton, Sano, Polanco, Berrios, May, and hopefully some good return at catcher, SP, and maybe SS from the previously mentioned trades.
  24. The Twins tried to rebuild around arguably the best 2b in baseball back in the mid 90's, and ultimately were forced to make the right move.
  25. Or the move of Rosario back to 2b and promotion of Kepler to the big league team. Hopefully Suzuki is not our starting catcher when next season begins. That would be the only way I would trade Dozier or Plouffe (to get an upgrade at catcher).
