The UniWatch article notes that all the "southwest" caps had that cream color instead of white. An interesting idea being discussed in the comments of the UniWatch article is that they may rebrand from the Minnesota Twins to the Minneapolis Twins or Twin City Twins, as not many professional teams use state names anymore, most use city names.

Rumor: Dodgers Interested in Carlos Correa
chaderic20 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I think people saying LA won't sign Correa because the fans hate him, are vastly underestimating the fickleness of fans. As Jerry Seinfeld says: ""Loyalty to any one sports team is pretty hard to justify, because the players are always changing, the team can move to another city. You're actually rooting for the clothes, when you get right down to it. You know what I mean? You are standing and cheering and yelling for your clothes to beat the clothes from another city. Fans will be so in love with a player, but if he goes to another team, they boo him. This is the same human being in a different shirt; they hate him now. Boo! Different shirt! Boo!" I think you can change that last part to "Fans will hate a player, but if he joins their team, they love him. This is the same human being in a different shirt; they love him now" and it still applies. -
Copy/pasting my comment from the forums: I like the pitch clock, and I think in 5-10 years it will be a complete non-issue. Some of the current veterans will put up a stink, but they will slowly get used to it and/or retire. I think pitch clock infractions will become about as common as balks, just a few per year per team. Get the ball, get the sign, pitch the ball. Get the ball, get the sign, pitch the ball. Let's go! Larger bases, I don't really care one way or another. I'd be curious what the data says about whether or not it increased SB attempts and/or success rate in the minors. I feel like I did see an article about this somewhere once, but I don't remember what the conclusion was. Limited disengagements, I think this will have minimal impact as you rarely see a pitcher throw over or step off more the once or twice an at bat anyway. I dislike the shift limitations. I feel like this year we were finally starting to see some batters make the adjustment to hitting the other way, and now MLB limits shifts, so everyone can go back to being pull happy. I've said before, and I'll say again, hitting the other way doesn't mean you have to do that for the rest of your career. You just have to show the other team you're willing and capable of it, and it will no longer be worth it for them to shift you. Then, once they no longer shift you, you can start pulling to your heart's content again. And if they then starting shifting you again, you put a few the other way, and repeat they cycle.

I think there are number of options that we will likely see some combination of. To make roster room Buxton goes on the IL and/or Miranda gets sent down. I think it's time to give Buxton a good couple weeks to try to get that knee healed up, and I don't think one good week from Miranda now suddenly means he can't be sent down. Then, for playing time, stop DH'ing Jeffers/Sanchez when they're not catching. Arraez and Kiriloff can primarily combo at 1B/DH, with Arraez occasionally seeing time at 2B/3B, and Kiriloff occasionally at LF/RF. Celestino is the primary CF, Larnach is primary LF, and Kepler primary RF. Garlick starts in RF/LF versus lefties. Gordon goes back to a true super-utility role, starting 4ish days a week all over the field, and coming in as a defensive replacement or pinch runner/hitter when not starting. Finally, once Lewis is healthy there's another CF, LF, and SS option. And as has been mentioned, another injury to any of those players is bound to happen, opening up more roster and playing time space. And eventually MLB will go back to the 13-pithcer limit, right?

No, I don't. I have to accept it, because I can't, and shouldn't be able to, force them to choose differently. But I in no way have to respect it, and I don't. In fact, I disrespect their decision.

I was at the Saints game, and Gossett was getting absolutely destroyed, even the outs were loud, he was not fooling anyone with anything. I was surprised he even came out for the second inning. Pinto actually looked pretty good minus a couple mistakes that Iowa made him pay for and Petricka looked pretty good too. Also, an Iowa pitcher was charged with a ball due to the pitch clock expiring, which I'd never actually seen happen before.

This right here. Just because WE don't know who's playing when and where doesn't mean the players don't know. Some of you all seem to think that they players are sitting on their phones refreshing Twitter waiting for Do-Hyoung Park to post the lineup. I'd be willing to bet they typically know the night before whether or not they're starting the next day. So, until I hear some indication from the players that this is affecting them, I don't believe one bit that it's affecting them. In fact, as others have pointed out, players like Buxton and Correa have actually indicated the exact opposite, that they LIKE it, and I'll take their word for it over Kaat's. I highly doubt the batters prepare any differently whether they are batting 1st, 5th, or 8th in the lineup. They're just preparing based on the pitcher they're facing. And they're not dumb, they know their splits and platoons and such, so I doubt they're ever surprised if/where they appear in the lineup. The relievers also likely know whether or not they are available that day just based on the past couple games bullpen usage. And I would bet they aren't preparing to pitch a specific inning, but instead are preparing to face specific batters, or at least a combination of batters/inning. They know what's going on in the game, so they know if the starter is struggling or not, and what his pitch count is, and if "their batters" are coming up, so they can be mentally prepared to start warming up, and if they're not it's their own fault.

Found another one - the poll options in this thread show as black text on black background for me. https://twinsdaily.com/forums/topic/56398-is-this-twins-team-legit/ ETA: After voting in the poll, everything appears correctly. But before voting it was black on black.

Yes, that was from my desktop (Windows 10). Just tried from my phone, (Android 12, Chrome 101.0.4951.61) and it does the same thing.

Not sure there's any way to confirm or refute this, but I think it's worth pointing out that Rocco's worst season was the one where he had no official bench coach. I think having that second-in-command to bounce things off of, keep you in check, be an extra set of eyes and ears, and handle the little things may be more important than we realize.

That's awesome that you really believe I said anything about it lowering ticket/cable prices (or getting coupons??). All I said was if the owners are going to get more money, I'd rather they get it from ad patches than from raising prices on anything I might pay for, with tickets and cable being two examples of things they could raise prices on. And I'll pre-emptively add, don't read here what I'm not saying, because I am not saying this guarantees those prices will never go up. TLDR; The ad patches don't bother me.

Should Byron Buxton Shift to Designated Hitter?
chaderic20 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
About the only thing more preposterous than the idea of moving Buxton to DH is the idea that just because someone has 26K Twitter followers means they're a voice that should be listened to. -
So we traded one year of a good reliever (coming off a season-ending injury) and a guy we were about to shove out the door for nothing, for two years of a decent reliever and three years of a currently struggling, but potential mid-rotation starter. I'll take that.

How Should the Twins Arrange the Top of the Order?
chaderic20 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think I'd go: Buxton (CF) Arraez (DH) Correa (SS) Polanco (2B) Kiriloff (LF) Sano (1B) Urshela (3B) Kepler (RF) Jeffers/Sanchez (C)- 51 replies

My idea for an unconventional staff is having three sets of three pitchers that all throw three innings each every three days. Mix and match lefties and righties in each group so opponents can't just stack their lineup to one side. Also try to mix different pitch styles, flamethrowers with guys with nasty breaking stuff, etc. Those three groups take up 9 roster spots, which still leaves you with 3-4 guys for spot matchups, or relief for someone having an off day, or just to give someone a day off every now and then. Since they're only pitching three innings they can throw a little harder than if they were trying to go six or seven innings, and they only need to have two decent pitches since they're only facing most batters just once.

Considering Rocco can do nothing right according to these forums I'm sure if he had intervened there'd be a big article and barrage of comments saying he was squashing his players fiery competitive spirit and babying them, etc. I have no problem with Rocco not stepping in here, Cruz and Watkins were both right there. And that conversation was nowhere close to getting out of hand. It barely, if even, qualifies as "heated" in my opinion. Josh could have handled it better than calling out his teammate on the field, but to me it looked and sounded like all he said was "Come on, let's go!" cuz Arraez clearly was not ready for the play to start, whether he was checking the outfielders positioning or staring out at the clouds.

It’s Time to Pay Byron Buxton
chaderic20 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't think 5/$100 will get you even close to signing Buxton. I'm guessing his ask will start somewhere more around 6/$200, and his actual signing will be something like 5/$150. There are a few teams with enough money to take on the risk of a contract that size, and the potential payoff if he stays healthy is enormous. Buxton and his agent know this, and will not accept less. I wouldn't if I were him anyway. -
The Time to Trade José Berríos is Now

Have the Twins Been Unlucky in 2021?
chaderic20 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Instead of using BABIP to determine luck, I was curious what looking at BA vs xBA would show. According to Baseball Savant the Twins have a BA of .245 and an xBA of .255, for a difference of negative 10 points. So at first glance there appears to be a little bad luck, but not a ton. But I noticed it also says that for MLB as a whole BA is .236 and xBA is .243, for a difference of negative 7 points. So really the Twins have only been 3 points of BA more unlucky than MLB as a whole. So, that means we're only losing 3 hits per 1,000 at bats to bad luck, when compared to the rest of the league. Some rough mental math tells me that's about 1 hit every 9 or 10 games. When put that way, that doesn't really seem like much to me. Not even close to being able to blame that for a 13-26 record. Twins pitchers on the other hand have actually been getting a little bit lucky using this method. Twins pitchers are giving up a .256 BA vs a .270 xBA, for a difference of 14 points. Again, MLB as a whole has 7 points difference, meaning Twins pitchers are actually giving up 7 fewer hits than expected per 1,000 at bats, relative to the rest of the league.- 28 replies
