  1. Well, it's happening. The Angels, fringe contenders for an American League Wild Card berth who saw Mike Trout go down with an injury a couple of weeks ago, are now reportedly considering trading Shohei "The Best Baseball Player on the Planet" Ohtani. This isn't terribly surprising, as the Angels' postseason hopes largely rode on the health of Ohtani and Trout as a duo. And the Angels will be loathe to let Ohtani walk into free agency without getting something in return... or at least that should be their mindset right now. It's unlikely the Twins will enter this mix, as they likely have neither the prospect horses nor the intestinal fortitude to pay the price of acquiring a couple of months of Shohei Ohtani. But merely putting Ohtani on the market up-ends it like no other player. This will have far-reaching ramifications across the trade market should Shohei end up being traded. View full rumor

  3. Sorry, that was supposed to read Walter White. Fixed.
  4. He is not. I check by hitting their MLB pages and checking: 130 ABs for position players, 50 IP for pitchers. I ignore service time, it's just a bad way to evaluate these guys. It doesn't matter if Lewis has 150 days of service time if he's been on the IL for 137 of them.
  5. Our draft tracker? We're updating it every day. https://twinsdaily.com/minnesota-twins-draft-picks/2023/
  6. Yeah, it has you recorded as voting. Want me to wipe out your vote? Your vote may have been a casualty of the page blowing up for a few minutes.
  7. I hope nobody was in the process of voting because I fat-fingered a setting and blew up the voting page for about five minutes.
  8. Done! Not sure how I missed him in the first pass but it's been a hell of a week. I'm ready to log off for a few days, that's for sure.
  9. You can thank some of the folks over at Brewer Fanatic for this one, as a user over there gave me this idea and started me down this path, which has taken nearly a year to complete. This feature is really cool and the most exciting thing this site has launched since the original top 20 prospect tracker. But there are still some things to sort out so please read below: 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. 3. Have your prospect list in your dirty little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp and then select my name when it appears). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and again tag me, asking to have your vote deleted. I will remove it and you can vote again. UPDATE: voting will now close at 11:59pm Tuesday July 18th! If you have questions or comments, put 'em here!
  10. That isn't even true, though. They're bad but not historically so, they're not even 30th in any of the mainstream statistics AFAIK. Feel free to show me some numbers if I'm incorrect about that.
  11. I most distinctly remember hearing it from Gleeman, who is generally an accurate source. As for seeing it in writing... I'm not sure. I think I've seen it somewhere but given how much media I consume, I could absolutely be making that up in my head.
  12. Nolan Arenado seems like a perfectly reasonable chap who was kinda done dirty by the Colorado Rockies (though being forcibly booted out of that organization is something of a blessing). Jon Heyman asked him a few questions the other day and Arenado says he isn't expecting a trade but wouldn't be surprised by one, either. Things are bleak in St Louis. The Cardinals aren't used to losing like this and it appears no one really knows how to handle their current struggles. Things were obviously very wrong when Marmol heaved Willson Contreras under the bus and while the Cards have put together a couple of small winning streaks, they've gone right back to losing again afterward. Truth be told, I hadn't even considered an Arenado trade. While he's aging toward his mid-30s, he's still very productive with the bat and his contract is quite reasonable through 2027, given that the Rockies are on the hook for $5 million per year for the next three years. It's quite obvious the Cardinals will be selling but to what extent? And given the Twins' offensive woes, can they simultaneously afford and not afford to pursue an expensive-but-good player with loads of control remaining?

  14. Yeah, the OP obviously means Popkins. At this point, I'm completely okay with moving on from Popkins. Even though it may not be his fault, someone needs to take the fall for essentially wasting what has been a historic starting rotation for the Twins.
  15. That's a really good point. I don't know how a QO works with a mutual option, though I suspect you're right and a QO cannot be extended.
  16. Oh boy, I don't even know how to answer that. Right now, probably Castro but there's still quite a bit of baseball left to play in 2023.
  17. Oh, I'm not ripping them for the likes of Coulombe, either. Teams pick up and lose players who turn into something for a few minutes all the time; as long as it all washes out close to even, I don't get worked up about it either way.
  18. Leave it to a Twins player to hurt themselves because they can't run to first base without stumbling.
  19. Joey Gallo with the unintentional small game.
