The box is a guide, nothing more. It's not the actual strike zone.
With that said, I haven't found tonight's umpiring nearly as aggravating as previous Twins postseason games.
Catchers lose blocked balls all the time and nothing came of it.
If Jeffers hadn't looked helpless at the plate in this series, no one would be throwing a fit about the lost ball.
Astros fans booing Correa is a perfect example of why everything from Texas is terrible.
Just the dumbest thing ever. The Astros didn't even TRY to retain him.
The Twins are in a pretty good position today. The key of the game is not letting Valdez go 7-8 innings, get into the Houston pen early, and sub back in all the LHB in the fifth and sixth.
The outcome of the game is not the only enjoyment I derive from watching it. The Twins game was engaging and exciting for all but two innings. I had fun watching, even if the outcome wasn't ideal.
Whereas I turned off the Dodgers game after the second inning.
No moral victories but I want to see competitive baseball, which we saw last night. For nearly two decades I watched the Twins be non-competitive in the postseason, I want to be able to actually enjoy the games I'm watching after so much suffering.
