  1. Oh, good point. I think that's a better solution, too.
  2. Well, two runs would be better but one is good!
  3. Interesting. I don't think I'd sacrifice defense in this spot.
  4. How much are other teams paying the umpires? Is this the new market inefficiency?
  5. LOL at Jorge throwing his bat after the strike.
  6. He probably can, I'm just saying that after he got through the meat of Houston's order, I hand the game to the bullpen and give Pablo just a bit more rest.
  7. I don't want to look forward too much but given that I want Lopez for later in this series if necessary, I take him out of the game.
  8. He's MUCH better than he was last night. I'll give him that much.
  9. I want Kirilloff even more in that situation, as he's more likely to put a ball in the seats.
  10. It was the right move, I think. Kirilloff seems to be the slightly better first baseman and has the platoon advantage going forward.
  11. Lopez is putting on a ****ing clinic tonight. His pitch mix and location is just ridiculous.
  12. Chances we'll see Vazquez in game three? 60%? Higher?
  13. That's not quite how it works. The catcher has to give the runner a lane, the runner isn't allowed to run right at someone if they're near the plate.
  14. I saw it too but Lewis has looked like he's in pain every time I've seen him run in the postseason.
  15. It will be interesting to learn if Baldelli called that bunt. We all know Jeffers loves his bunts and he's pretty helpless at the plate right now.
  16. This is going perfectly by the book. Run up Valdez's pitch count, get him out early, now start subbing in bats and defense when possible. Keep the foot on the gas.
  17. Totally different system with nothing in common. ABS is operated by the league and uses a ton of tech that tracks the ball to a fraction of an inch. The white box is run by the broadcast and could use any assortment of tech from "pretty good" to "person in truck tapping a screen" and none of it is nearly as accurate as the league run ABS.
  18. Eh, maybe, maybe not. It depends how the pitch spot is generated. I know that some broadcasts literally have a person picking the spot to put the pitch and we don't have depth perception from the centerfield camera. It's best to just treat the box as a guide, not a rule.
  19. The white box isn't adjusted for hitter height/stance as the real strikezone is. It's not intended to be a hard rule, just a guide.
  20. Yeah, I would have sent him there against Castro.
  21. The box is a guide, nothing more. It's not the actual strike zone. With that said, I haven't found tonight's umpiring nearly as aggravating as previous Twins postseason games.
