  1. Love this post. LOVE IT. And, yes, I'm right there with you. I'm not "giving you it" because I'm right there with you. But we didn't know what would happen because this team has played well, unlike previous seasons. It may be hard to let go of 18 years of frustration - trust me, I know more than most having run sites for so long - but we can't predict anything in baseball. It "feels" a way until it doesn't. And this team has shown those lingering feelings don't really have a place anymore. The Minnesota Twins are just a "postseason team" now. They may win, they may lose. But they're no different than any other team.
  2. No, you don't. Only blinding yourself through hindsight would make you believe such a thing. Just three or so days ago, the Twins were in the identical position and stormed back in the seventh to make it a game.
  3. Don't get the reference.
  4. Rocco put a hit out on Kirilloff after that first inning blunder.
  5. Listen, I've been a skeptic from day one and will continue to be one for awhile... but watching Castro take his PAs today, it kinda hit me: this guy might actually be pretty good, at least for a tenth man. On a day when players were flailing left and right and just kinda making asses of themselves, Castro kept stepping to the plate and taking professional at-bats. He's never going to be a linchpin of the offense or a staple of the lineup but I have to say, amidst a raging storm of hot mess, I was pretty impressed with Willi's ability to step in and do his job today.
  6. Baltimore doesn't have the pitching depth to be great and they waayyyyyyy overperformed their BaseRuns record. Looking at BaseRuns, Baltimore is a 89 win team while Texas is a 97 win team. What's happening here makes some sense, I just didn't expect Texas's pitching to actually be good. Don't get me wrong, I think Baltimore is going to be a force soon (and they're already quite good) but only if they properly address their pitching.
  7. I thought it'd be a pretty close series because I don't think either team is particularly strong. Baltimore used their fair share of smoke and mirrors to win over 100 games and Texas looks a hell of a lot better than I expected.
  8. This team today.
  9. Hard to disagree with anything here, really.
  10. The pitching put the Twins down but the bats knocked them out of the game. So many opportunities to score and one run. Consecutive innings with bases loaded and less than two outs when the game was still within reach.
  11. I agree… except when today doesn’t matter because you’re down nearly double digits. At that point, tomorrow is everything.
  12. That’s the worst part of it. This was an uncompetitive game just like the bad old days of 2004-2020. Losing happens. Getting your face punched in is just embarrassing.
  13. In the postseason, you still want a couple of length guys on hand, though. Ryan could pull up injured tomorrow and then you’re really screwed if you don’t have some long relief guys on hand.
  14. Having used Maeda today, I’d save Varland in case something goes horribly wrong with Ryan but the Twins are still in the game. I’m not sure what kind of length they can get out of Paddack.
  15. Yeah, it’s probably Gray. I’m ridiculously frustrated at Lewis for his performance today, though. He was taking HORRIBLE at-bats.
  16. Who is your biggest goat of this game? The candidates I see are: Kirilloff Gray Lewis I might actually vote Lewis because he pinwheeled through several prime opportunities to continue a rally.
  17. After nearly three hours, I think I can declare with utmost certainty and sincerity that this game ****ing blows.
  18. I don't know how much of it is Jeffers' game calling but I doubt he's calling middle-middle as often as Sonny is throwing it there.
  19. The Twins are just laying in wait for the Astros to get to five runs... so they can score four runs and then fizzle.
  20. I'm sure the shadows ARE a problem. But the Twins are taking some hot garbage at-bats and that's on them.
  21. What's the shadow situation on the field? Is it fixed now that the Astros are up again?
  22. Who isn't awful on this team? Over the past few games, you've said pretty much the entire roster is trash. Cut it out.
  23. Completely ****ting the bed with one out and second and third doesn't inspire confidence.
