  1. Congratulations to Andrew Albers, I'm happy he finally received another shot at playing in Major League Baseball. If they want to keep him around for a little bit, I guess that's fine. They can remove Gant and Barnes from the rotation and put in players with a future in an MLB rotation.
  2. Ian Gibaut. Really? REALLY?!?!?!

  3. John Gant shouldn't have started once for the Twins but I'll give them one shot at making a mistake. But by god, JOHN GANT SHOULDN'T HAVE STARTED A SECOND GAME. My patience is all but done with this front office. We see increasingly feeble offerings from the pitching staff while nothing is done about it except throw more bad options at the wall and hope that maybe, just maybe, one of them will not pitch well but maybe pitch to an ERA under 5.00. What a colossal waste of every fan's time this season has been.
  4. Take this tidbit of information and store it in some back closet of your mind, ready to come out whenever anyone implies that 1980s (and earlier) baseball was anything other than incredibly, incredibly stupid. Yes, it was more fun but it was also incredibly, incredibly stupid.
  5. I *hate* the fact we are watching Gant start another game and are going to see Albers again soon. Gross.

    1. Squirrel

      Squirrel

Don't look now, but he's on the schedule for tomorrow vs the Cubs ...

  6. The only pop-up on this entire site is Twins-related video created by Twins Daily's staff but you do you, I guess. And even that pop-up video only loads 10% of the time on mobile and 50% of the time on desktop. The rest of the time it's a static entity that doesn't follow you on the page.
  7. Weird, I don't recall saying anyone has done a good job or that this pitching staff as a whole has been anything other than a trainwreck.
  8. I protest! The real low-hanging fruit was making a Wes Anderson and The Royal Tenenbaums joke. I showed extreme restraint in my reply and demand that you acknowledge it, good sir.
  9. Holy overpay, Batman. While either pitcher would be great and I'd love to have them, according to rWAR, Arraez has been more valuable than either in 2021 (and Luis would only be 50% of your package) and Arraez has more team control than either pitcher. I'm all in favor of slightly overpaying for a good young pitcher but I'm not going to hand away $100m in future value in return for $40m in future value.
  10. Believe it or not but Davis wasn't only worse, he was MUCH WORSE. This season, Colomé has a -2.0 WPA. In 1986, Ron Davis had a -3.2 WPA. EXCEPT THAT WASN'T EVEN HIS WORST SEASON In 1984, Ron Davis had a -3.5 WPA.

  12. @h2oface Now take a look, I changed the related video widget to our brand red color, which makes it stand out as separate videos from the rest of the page.
  13. Jax received a raw deal last night. I liked the vote of confidence from Baldelli by trotting him back out there for the fifth, at which point Jax induced what should have been three outs had Arraez not looped that terrible throw away from first base. The 2022 Twins need to focus on actual POSITION players. I don't see space for the likes of all of Larnach, Sano, Rooker, and Arraez all on the same roster.
  14. I'll work on differentiating these two sections more clearly.
  15. I think I see what's happening. You're scrolling down to the related videos widget BELOW the actual video. Don't scroll and this should load near the top of the page: If you scroll down to this, it's the related videos widget and will take you to another page:
  16. Twins Daily has been talking about video internally for the past... 5+ years... or more... But as you may have noticed, we finally started dabbling in video around the trade deadline, only dipping our toe in for starters. We had a few stops and starts and bumps along the way as we learned a lot about how to display video and integrate them into the site. We're definitely still learning and expect to see significant changes along the way but we've moved to the next step of video: a permanent page to present and archive all our videos! Right now, the bulk of the video content is from our own @Tom Froemming and his great (almost) nightly recaps but that's just the beginning, we have a lot more in the works from many names you'll recognize that we'll be rolling out in the coming months. As with the rest of Twins Daily, expect the same great, daily content that breaks down not only the Minnesota Twins but also their minor league affiliates, particularly the St Paul Saints and Wichita Wind Surge! You can also check out a few of our vintage Twins highlight reels with our partners at TC Media Now, of which we hope to expand upon in the coming months! Check out the new Twins Daily video page and let us know what you think!
  17. Louie Varland struck out seven more batters for Cedar Rapids tonight to put himself over the 100-strikeout mark on the season. Also, Nick Gordon hit a home run for St. Paul, Trey Cabbage and Spencer Steer went back-to-back to hit both of their 21st homers of the season and 5-8 catcher Jeferson Morales hit his first home run since being promoted to Cedar Rapids. The Twins were off Thursday, but here are some highlights from the prospects.
