  1. Welcome to the board! As for the Big A, I loathe that stadium. I lived in Long Beach for nine years and saw more games in that park than I can count. On top of it being boring and stale, it's a football stadium and all the seats face the wrong bloody direction. I'm pretty sure I have permanent neck damage from sitting in the stadium with my head craned left/right for three hours a night. But yeah, Trout and Ohtani are pretty much the best things going in baseball right now.
  2. I'm actually not that big of a fan of Baldelli, either, though I think he's very smart. I don't understand some of his decision making in the past but think he has been better this season. As for the rotation, last season the Brewers had one of the best (if not the best) rotation in baseball while the Twins had one of the worst (if not the worst) rotation in baseball. Over the course of the entire 2021 season, Brewers starters pitched only 85 more innings than Twins starters. That's half an inning a game when we're talking about potentially the best rotation versus potentially the worst rotation. This is just how baseball is now, the Twins and Baldelli are in lock-step with most smart teams on this and the Brewers are absolutely a smart team.
  3. The Brewers rotation is vastly superior to the Twins. That's why their starters go longer. The Twins' rotation would have many more innings logged if they had Burnes, Woodruff, Houser, and Lauer in it, too. As for the bullpen, the only noticeable difference is the closer, as Hader is a strict one-inning reliever. But that's not surprising, as Hader has a pretty steep drop-off after one inning and he's literally the best one-inning reliever in baseball so that approach makes a ton of sense. The Twins do not have Josh Hader.
  4. Since taking over Brewer Fanatic, I've learned and interesting tidbit: they like their manager. The majority of the fanbase refers to Counsell as smart, savvy, and a bunch of other superlatives. The thing is that the managing style and tacts of Craig Counsell and Rocco Baldelli are basically indistinguishable.
  5. To get out in front of this sensitive topic, this comments section will be closely monitored. Due to the artificially politicized nature of Covid, this comments section will be zero-tolerance. Any refuting of the existence of Covid, its impact, or political statements minimizing the danger of the virus will automatically receive three points and a brief vacation from the Twins Daily comments section.
  6. Wait, what? This was their second-best start to a season? Whaaaaat?
  7. I've never understood this inter-state rivalry nonsense. My dad is a Bears fan, I'm a Packers fans (well, was when I watched football, anyway), my BiL is a Vikings fan. What we all agree on is to stand in a circle and laugh at my uncle and cousins that are Lions fans. But really, I've never had any issues cheering on both the Packers and Vikings whenever they aren't playing one another. I simply don't care about the "rivalry", as I have strong connections to both states.
  8. The Brewers logos are sooooo good. All of these are incredible.
  9. They’re a really fun team right now. That pitching staff is kind of ridiculous.
  10. I was born in Iron River, MI right on the Wisconsin border and lived in Bayfield for several years as a small child. In 2008, I lived in MKE for a year or so.
  11. As a long-time Wisconsin resident, I actually followed the Brewers for a couple of years as a small child before becoming a Twins fan. As a result, I've always kept an eye on the Crew and it became really easy to cheer them on after the move to the National League. So when we had the option to purchase a Brewers forum and give it the Twins Daily treatment, it was a no-brainer for me to jump right in. And so we launched BrewerFanatic.com! Right now, it's basically a pared-down Twins Daily but the community is outstanding and, just like here, there is a dedicated community that offers Brewers insight you won't find elsewhere. While the site is still relatively new, users are coming around to blogging about things like how Earl Weaver baseball rekindled a love of the sport. And, as you'd expect, the front page is full of Brewers analysis. Hell, I even talked myself into writing a few pieces over there (which I haven't done here since 2014 or so), like an early-season analysis of Christian Yelich's lingering launch angle problems. We have Jeremy Nygaard doing his typical draft wrangling and Seth is helping the trio of Brewers minor league gurus get up to speed with nightly minor league affiliate recaps. And just like here, we have up-to-date active rosters and 40-man rosters. So if you're a Brewers fan, closeted or not, come on by and check out the site! Also, the site justified me purchasing this hoodie as an acknowledgement of the pure fire that are Brewers logos (they're all great, seriously).
  12. I replaced my Twins hoodie a little over a week ago. The Twins haven't lost since. You're all welcome.

@Otto von Ballpark I sacrificed my 2003 era Jersey after the 2019 postseason and it had no effect.

I had to quit buying jerseys for a similar reason.  Every time I bought a jersey, he'd be gone less than a year later.  That happened with 3 consecutive players.

It's going to be a little warm wearing the new hoodie all summer for us, but suck it up, cupcake.

  13. While we try to keep the cost of our prizes reasonable, for the first anniversary of the awards, I had an idea and I was going to spend as much as it required to find this gem of a prize. After quite some time searching - I'd rather not say how long - I've found the ultimate prize for the top mid-season Community Award. A signed baseball bat. A signed Kyle Lohse baseball bat. A signed Kyle Lohse baseball bat with his Twins jersey number on it. What's astounding about this find is that Lohse played a significant portion of his career in the National League... a league where he never wore the number 49. Why is a Kyle Lohse baseball bat significant? He was a pitcher, after all... well, this is why. Is this the bat Kyle Lohse used to smash ol' Ronnie's door? I mean, probably not... but if Pete Rose can sell his #4192 bat over and over again for profit, we can all pretend that this bat first (only?) saw action against an office door in the Metrodome on that random night in September of 2005. Who's to say otherwise, really? So, dear Twins Daily community member, if you want this prize, start typing, for it will only be available to the user who writes the most popular post on the Twins Daily forums in the first half of the 2022 campaign. PS. I've scoured eBay for months but have yet to find an auction for the accompanying Ron Gardenhire office door but should you come across one - legally or otherwise - you know where to find me and I'm willing to pay big for it.
  14. So Max Kepler now has a 170 OPS+ because of course he does.

SSS number fluctuations indeed be crazy.

I hope it continues to into the not so SSS territory!

  15. “Let’s cut Miguel Sano…” *audience cheers* ”… some slack” *audience boos*
  16. This is a long-term goal across the site but the kind of thing that will probably take an entire offseason of planning to implement. At some point, I want the system to automatically link to a player page if someone types their full name.
  17. While Buxton is the obvious hero, I don't feel enough people are talking about Urshela no-hopping a throw to first while plopped down on his ass.

He had a pretty good day at the plate as well, including driving in the first run on a sac fly.

  18. New to the site, we've added both the active roster and the 40-man roster pages! These pages will update nightly so they'll always be up-to-date with the current state of the big league club, adding yet another long-term feature I've wanted to see on our baseball sites basically forever. There isn't a lot to say about these pages other than they feature the standard set of player info: name, position, handedness, DoB, etc. To find these pages, use the hamburger menu at the top right of every page (the three horizontal lines), click "Twins Resources", and then you'll be presented the options for both the roster pages and the team schedule for the season. As always, if you have suggestions for new features you'd like to see added or improvements to current features, please comment below!
  19. This is a really bad idea not based in reality. If memory serves, the past three Buxton injuries have happened either at the plate or on the basepaths. So we're trading a platinum glove just to keep him off the field?
  20. It has been a long, dreary winter full of boredom followed by even more boredom followed by two weeks of the most fun Twins fans had in an offseason since the Butch Huskey signing. And now it’s time to award those posters who make the Twins Daily community so awesome. It’s Twins Daily Community Awards time! If you’re unfamiliar with our community awards, it’s something we organized last year to recognize the top participants in the Twins Daily community. We award two prizes: most popular post and most popular blog entry. We also recognize some of our most prolific posters and contributors but award them nothing for it. We don’t want to inflate anyone’s ego, after all. Our prizes have a theme for the first time: “Johan Santana visited the Big Apple, and all we got was this lousy t-shirt.” Enjoy, Twins fans! Top Posts of the 2022 Offseason goes to… Honorable Mention: @Sielk and their comment in the topic Twins Acquire RHP Sonny Gray from Reds for Chase Petty. After months of hearing Twins fans scream about pitching, sielk offers the quite-reasonable opinion, “wait… so they went and got pitching, and you’re still complaining?” I feel you, sielk. I feel you. The Top Post and Prize Winner: @4twinsJA and their comment in the topic FO's tentativeness is killing the team. During the more-than-mildly-concerning period of the offseason when the front office seemed to want to do nothing, 4twinsJA went the tried and true route that always plays up in the Twins Daily community... taking a swipe at Jake Cave. This is a textbook comment, but its excellent execution puts it over the top. For that the comment wins the ultimate prize: a ticket stub from game one of the 2004 ALDS in Yankee Stadium, more colloquially known in Minnesota as “the last ****ing time the ****ing Twins won a ****ing postseason game.” Blog Entry of the 2022 Offseason goes to… Honorable Mention: @cjm0926 and their blog entry A Different Idea For Twins Catching. Writing this entry in early November, cjm0926 had a crazy idea… trade your catchers! All of them. Ultimately, the Twins front office got halfway there, trading Mitch Garver to the Rangers in a shocking move. This entry deservedly gained a lot of traction with our users, as illustrated by its popularity and honorable mention in the blog entry category. The Top Blog Entry and Prize Winner: @Doc Munson, long-time Twins Daily stalwart, takes home the prize for their entry. What are we waiting on to complete our roster? After a flurry of moves followed by radio silence, Doc wasn’t the only Twins fan left scratching their head. Why haven’t we seen more pitching acquisitions? Are we really going to take such half-measures? In the wake of this offseason, what stands out the most was Doc’s now-humorous idea to overpay Trevor Story on a one-year contract… check and mate, Doc. As a token of our appreciation for this wildly popular blog entry, I present to you yet another Johan Santana visited the Big Apple, and all we got was this lousy t-shirt prize: a ticket stub from Johan’s no-hitter in a Mets uniform, something he never did in a Twins uniform. *weeps silently for a moment* After further consideration, these prizes suck. Most Popular Topic of the 2022 Offseason… @MMMordabito wins the no-prize for the topic T-Mobile to offer Free MLB.TV again in 2022. This is a rarity in the Twins Daily awards category, as it’s only Twins-adjacent but highly informative. Personally, the free MLB.tv is half the reason why I’m with T-Mobile to this day. Thanks for the topic, and keep it coming! Most Read Blog Entry of the 2022 Offseason… @Doc Munson must have spent the offseason ‘roiding up because they’re flat-out dominating the blogs with yet another entry, Post Lock out Moves: Potential Twins Trades. This entry examined some potential trades the Twins could have executed post-lockout, bringing over 1,800 readers to check out what Doc had to say on the subject. Well done yet again, Doc! Prolific Posters of the 2022 Offseason… We have a new postmaster for the 2022 offseason! In a surprising out-of-nowhere appearance, @mikelink45 brings home the no-prize with 1,514 reputation points over the offseason! But, as always, laying in wait with a second-place finish is the ever-present @Mike Sixel with 1,283 reputation points… Watch out, Mike, uh… Mike… is coming for you. Wait, what? That’s all we have for today; thanks to everyone who makes this site such a great place to hang out every day of the year, even through multiple years of difficult baseball. It means a lot to us that you’ve stuck with Twins Daily through a pandemic, a shortened season, no-attendance games, and a lockout. Without all of you doing your thing daily, Twins Daily would be a shell of its current self. We’ll see you mid-season, and let me tell you, that prize is incredible, so get typing, you fools… View full article

  22. Are you suggesting we put the entire site behind a paywall? I'm sorry but that's a kiss of death to the forums and blog section.
  23. I’m far from sure I like Paddack but I’m also ready to walk away from Larnach so I’m not sure what to think of this until details emerge.
