  1. I see this said a lot and the Twins have zero control over what's happening here and when their contract is up, I suspect they're going to have some pretty harsh words to Bally over what has happened. Remember, the Twins signed their television contract with an entirely different entity, Fox Sports. Bally bought Fox Sports several years later, well into the Twins contract, and that's when most of these shenanigans started happening. The Twins have little to no recourse to take action against Bally until their contract is up for renewal, which happens... after next season, maybe? It's not immediate but not that far away, either. The Twins would love nothing more than for everyone in the area to be able to reasonably access their content. It's Bally that's doing this, not the Twins.
  2. Or, it should be noted in this case, we often make our decisions based on our lack of individual experiences. And in this case, that’s a *huge* part of the problem with American society.
  3. For funsies, I do IP geolocation checks on many of the people who make these comments and so far: 0 from Minneapolis A few from the suburbs Overwhelming majority from outside metro areas So yeah. As with so many things in life, the most ignorant people in the situation are yelling the loudest.
  4. Thanks, I’ll get that sorted!
  5. People are relatively confident in Miranda because last year's breakout came with increased contact skill, bat speed, and ability to drive the ball. Those things don't really "go away"; the hope behind Miranda is largely scouting-based, not necessarily stat-based. Obviously, he could still fall flat on his face against major league pitching but that applies to any prospect. With that said, some are all too willing to directly translate MiLB success to the expectation of immediate MLB success. It usually doesn't work that way, which is why smart front offices don't routinely bank on unproven prospects, especially at multiple positions at once.
  6. Interesting. Thanks, I'll get it fixed.
  7. When you say Chrome, I assume you mean desktop?
  8. Again, thank you for sharing. We’re all about community here and you are now a more involved part of this community. If that’s the only thing this new feature brings, I consider it a success!
  9. That's so great to hear and thank you for sharing. I've been reluctant to implement dark mode because it's a ton of work and I don't like dark mode. I don't want to use it and it creates 50% more work whenever I have to make a change. Hearing comments like this reinforces not only my commitment to keeping this feature but also that I should have done it quite some time ago. Again, thank you.
  10. This has been one of the most-requested features for a long time and I'm happy to announce that Dark Mode is finally a thing you can use across the site! Dark Mode is a new way to use Twins Daily, especially at night or in darkened rooms. Instead of the background being black text over white background, it's the inverse: white text over black background. Some people find sites easier to use and read in this inverted scheme and now it's really easy to toggle back and forth as needed. At the top right of each page, you will see four icons in the red bar; the first icon is a half-filled circle. Click that to toggle back and forth from light to dark modes on the site. That's it! Now, the site has become quite sprawling and while I tried to check every aspect of how this renders on each page, I surely missed some things. Therefore, dear user, you are my quality assurance team. If you see anything that's hard to read, doesn't work right, or just plain looks weird, add a comment below and I'll get it fixed as soon as possible. For those of you who have been asking for this feature for so long, sorry it has taken this long. What seemed like a pretty simple feature actually turned into an overly-complex problem that I couldn't solve without quite a bit of effort. Once again, I'd like to give a big thanks and shout out to our caretakers of Twins Daily; without their continued support, small-but-important features like Dark Mode would be much more difficult to implement. The added freedom to hire additional staff allows me to spend more time focusing on these types of projects. Thanks again!
  11. Hey, let’s be fair here. There were *two* jabs at them in the article.
  12. Welcome to the board! As for the Big A, I loathe that stadium. I lived in Long Beach for nine years and saw more games in that park than I can count. On top of it being boring and stale, it's a football stadium and all the seats face the wrong bloody direction. I'm pretty sure I have permanent neck damage from sitting in the stadium with my head craned left/right for three hours a night. But yeah, Trout and Ohtani are pretty much the best things going in baseball right now.
  13. I'm actually not that big of a fan of Baldelli, either, though I think he's very smart. I don't understand some of his decision making in the past but think he has been better this season. As for the rotation, last season the Brewers had one of the best (if not the best) rotation in baseball while the Twins had one of the worst (if not the worst) rotation in baseball. Over the course of the entire 2021 season, Brewers starters pitched only 85 more innings than Twins starters. That's half an inning a game when we're talking about potentially the best rotation versus potentially the worst rotation. This is just how baseball is now, the Twins and Baldelli are in lock-step with most smart teams on this and the Brewers are absolutely a smart team.
  14. The Brewers rotation is vastly superior to the Twins. That's why their starters go longer. The Twins' rotation would have many more innings logged if they had Burnes, Woodruff, Houser, and Lauer in it, too. As for the bullpen, the only noticeable difference is the closer, as Hader is a strict one-inning reliever. But that's not surprising, as Hader has a pretty steep drop-off after one inning and he's literally the best one-inning reliever in baseball so that approach makes a ton of sense. The Twins do not have Josh Hader.
  15. Since taking over Brewer Fanatic, I've learned and interesting tidbit: they like their manager. The majority of the fanbase refers to Counsell as smart, savvy, and a bunch of other superlatives. The thing is that the managing style and tacts of Craig Counsell and Rocco Baldelli are basically indistinguishable.
  16. To get out in front of this sensitive topic, this comments section will be closely monitored. Due to the artificially politicized nature of Covid, this comments section will be zero-tolerance. Any refuting of the existence of Covid, its impact, or political statements minimizing the danger of the virus will automatically receive three points and a brief vacation from the Twins Daily comments section.
  17. Wait, what? This was their second-best start to a season? Whaaaaat?
  18. I've never understood this inter-state rivalry nonsense. My dad is a Bears fan, I'm a Packers fans (well, was when I watched football, anyway), my BiL is a Vikings fan. What we all agree on is to stand in a circle and laugh at my uncle and cousins that are Lions fans. But really, I've never had any issues cheering on both the Packers and Vikings whenever they aren't playing one another. I simply don't care about the "rivalry", as I have strong connections to both states.
  19. The Brewers logos are sooooo good. All of these are incredible.
  20. They’re a really fun team right now. That pitching staff is kind of ridiculous.
  21. I was born in Iron River, MI right on the Wisconsin border and lived in Bayfield for several years as a small child. In 2008, I lived in MKE for a year or so.
  22. As a long-time Wisconsin resident, I actually followed the Brewers for a couple of years as a small child before becoming a Twins fan. As a result, I've always kept an eye on the Crew and it became really easy to cheer them on after the move to the National League. So when we had the option to purchase a Brewers forum and give it the Twins Daily treatment, it was a no-brainer for me to jump right in. And so we launched BrewerFanatic.com! Right now, it's basically a pared-down Twins Daily but the community is outstanding and, just like here, there is a dedicated community that offers Brewers insight you won't find elsewhere. While the site is still relatively new, users are coming around to blogging about things like how Earl Weaver baseball rekindled a love of the sport. And, as you'd expect, the front page is full of Brewers analysis. Hell, I even talked myself into writing a few pieces over there (which I haven't done here since 2014 or so), like an early-season analysis of Christian Yelich's lingering launch angle problems. We have Jeremy Nygaard doing his typical draft wrangling and Seth is helping the trio of Brewers minor league gurus get up to speed with nightly minor league affiliate recaps. And just like here, we have up-to-date active rosters and 40-man rosters. So if you're a Brewers fan, closeted or not, come on by and check out the site! Also, the site justified me purchasing this hoodie as an acknowledgement of the pure fire that are Brewers logos (they're all great, seriously).
  23. I replaced my Twins hoodie a little over a week ago. The Twins haven't lost since. You're all welcome.

@Otto von Ballpark I sacrificed my 2003 era Jersey after the 2019 postseason and it had no effect.

I had to quit buying jerseys for a similar reason.  Every time I bought a jersey, he'd be gone less than a year later.  That happened with 3 consecutive players.

It's going to be a little warm wearing the new hoodie all summer for us, but suck it up, cupcake.

  24. While we try to keep the cost of our prizes reasonable, for the first anniversary of the awards, I had an idea and I was going to spend as much as it required to find this gem of a prize. After quite some time searching - I'd rather not say how long - I've found the ultimate prize for the top mid-season Community Award. A signed baseball bat. A signed Kyle Lohse baseball bat. A signed Kyle Lohse baseball bat with his Twins jersey number on it. What's astounding about this find is that Lohse played a significant portion of his career in the National League... a league where he never wore the number 49. Why is a Kyle Lohse baseball bat significant? He was a pitcher, after all... well, this is why. Is this the bat Kyle Lohse used to smash ol' Ronnie's door? I mean, probably not... but if Pete Rose can sell his #4192 bat over and over again for profit, we can all pretend that this bat first (only?) saw action against an office door in the Metrodome on that random night in September of 2005. Who's to say otherwise, really? So, dear Twins Daily community member, if you want this prize, start typing, for it will only be available to the user who writes the most popular post on the Twins Daily forums in the first half of the 2022 campaign. PS. I've scoured eBay for months but have yet to find an auction for the accompanying Ron Gardenhire office door but should you come across one - legally or otherwise - you know where to find me and I'm willing to pay big for it.
