  1. Meg Rowley, editor of FanGraphs and a seemingly fantastic person all around, has repeatedly stated she is not comfortable with people being paid based on a system FanGraphs created and tweaks constantly to provide as a resource to baseball fans. And she's right. This is a burden FG should not have to bear.
  2. In my blueprint, I ripped off the band-aid and put Winder directly into the MLB bullpen. I think that's where he's going to end up anyway, may as well do it now.
  3. That's a pretty risky roster. Why Julien at second when Arraez and Gordon exist?

  7. It’s fine. I was expecting something much more drastic and frankly, something much worse. I like the TC and want it to stick around. This modernization does that.
  8. I put their chances at maybe 5%. Remote to the point of not being a real consideration but also not impossible.
  9. Obviously, the Twins say they "want" to keep Correa but we've all heard this song and dance before. This interview gives little indication whether the Twins will actually be *competitive* in the Carlos Correa sweepstakes but at least they're talking about it as if it's a real possibility. This doesn't change my opinion whether the Twins have a real shot at keeping him or not but at least they're not already moving on and trying to convince the fanbase that's in the best interest of the franchise. What do you believe the odds are the Twins will have Carlos Correa on the 2023 Opening Day roster? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/twins-rumors-carlos-correa-jim-pohlad-owner.html View full rumor

  11. You’re missing the point. The 2018 Red Sox also cheated. https://www.si.com/.amp/mlb/2020/04/22/red-sox-sign-stealing-scandal
  12. For sure. His arm will keep him more defensively viable as he ages.
  13. I agree with all of this. First and foremost it'd be pretty foolish to take Correa off short and he knows that as much as anyone. I'm sure there's a pride component mixed in there but it's also just the right decision to make.
  14. Correa is a platinum glove shortstop who derives massive value from his glove. He's a good, not great, hitter. I cannot see him moving off shortstop for at least several years. The Story thing was a little surprising but with Bogaerts opting out, I suspect he knew he'd play only one year at second base.
  15. And that's very possible, though I think the Dodgers prioritize winning above all else and Correa is likely to be the better investment IMO.
  16. Remember just a year ago they had Corey Seager and appeared to make little to no effort to retain him, if I'm recalling correctly.
  17. I did not live in Minnesota when Wellstone died but so many around me continue to mourn his loss to this day. I do not understand that sentiment, as I've never been near any politician that evoked true positive emotion from me, but my wife literally has a Wellstone sign to this day so he obviously had a true lasting impact on the state and it saddens me ex post facto that I wasn't able to witness his influence myself.
  18. How I wish MLB had better revenue sharing...
  19. I completely agree but if the teams bidding include the Dodgers and/or Yankees, I think the Twins chances drop from “low” to “zero”. The Dodgers in particular can add $20m to an eight year deal without blinking an eye and should the Twins go nuts and match it, the Dodgers could simply add another $20m and not even notice.
  20. Five words Twins fans did not want to hear to start this offseason. Jon Heyman has reported that while Trea Turner is obviously open to returning to the premiere Los Angeles team, the Dodgers themselves may be targeting Correa as their number one shortstop free agent. This is terrible news for the Twins, especially coupled with rumors that the Yankees may be sore after their ALCS loss and may also enter the fray for Correa. It's safe to say that if those teams are involved, the Twins' chance of retaining Correa approaches zero. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/10/dodgers-interested-in-carlos-correa.html View full rumor

  23. Rodon also terrifies me but, as I said, I think he's the most gettable name that is actually really good.
  24. Upside with risk. I don't do a lot but what I do costs a bunch of money. I retain Correa with a front-loaded contract, starting him at $40m over the next few years. I sign Rodon. I don't love Rodon but I think he's a gettable name that's better than almost all of the Twins internal options. I trade Kepler. I know the minimization of the shift might help him in 2023 but I'm done with Max and can no longer expect him to make the necessary changes to improve upon his half-a-dimension approach at the plate and dishing him to another team allows me to keep the payroll in check. And then I run out a bunch of guys who could tank the season, particularly in the bullpen. But I think the Twins have enough arms to keep the pen afloat until some names emerge as true bullpen candidates. It's a risk but it's the kind of risk I'm willing to take to drastically improve at two key positions. No more patchwork rosters. Go big, even if it leaves you vulnerable at other positions.
