  1. I don't think this is true at all. Based on what I've heard, I think the Twins have a 50% chance of signing Correa, it really depends whether Cohen is going to step in and just say "yes" despite him leaning toward "no" publicly. But hey, he's Steve Cohen and he's worth something like $15b. He says yes one minute, no the other, The Twins can't compete if he's in a good mood in the moment and sticks with it through the signing period.
  2. I think they have a legitimate shot at Correa. Whether that's a 33% chance or a 60% chance, I don't know. But with reports of the Mets being "frustrated" at the exact same moment I'm hearing positive things about the Twins' negotiations with Boras, it leads me to believe the Twins have a legit shot at getting this done.
  3. Oh if they miss on Correa yet again, they'll be skewered by the fanbase and I'd argue it's very well-deserved.
  4. Haven't heard anything in hours. This isn't surprising, as we all know Carlos Correa only signs contracts between midnight and 4am.
  5. If the Twins sign Correa, these are the options: They're a blind squirrel that somehow always manages to find the nut They have a very specific crystal ball that only shows them the near future of Carlos Correa (and maybe Laverne & Shirley re-runs) There is no third option.
  6. With Boras, who knows. He doesn't give up without squeezing every last dollar out for his client.
  7. Yep, the Twins. I'm hearing somewhat vague details but my gut is saying the Twins land him. I keep hearing enough information to believe the biggest stumbling blocks have been cleared and they're down to arguing about dollars.
  8. I think they’ve agreed on years but not dollars.
  9. This is probably Stu’s finest work yet. I lost it at this: I asked them to clarify, and they said ‘This is the Book of Revelations, Phil.’
  10. Second hand information from the other owners who are connected to the team.
  11. I can't really say what I've been hearing but I'm personally becoming convinced this is actually going to happen.
  12. It's not that it's cherry-picking - hell, I don't even trust L/R splits over a full season, much less a partial - but having watched McCutchen play quite a bit last season, he had a pretty strong cooked vibe at the plate. Like I said, there's a chance he rebounds in 2023 but Milwaukee is a friendly place to hit and he didn't. I'd run with Garlick over acquiring McCutchen, though I want to see the Twins find a RHB outfielder better than both.
  13. Nope, hard pass. I watched him for the Brewers a lot last season. There's a chance he rebounds but he was acquired to be a lefty masher - the same role the Twins need this season - and McCutchen promptly posted a .738 OPS against LHP.
  14. Hayes and Gleeman of The Athletic have reported the Twins are possibly in pursuit of Michael Wacha. The 31-year-old right-hander bounced back nicely with the Red Sox in 2022 with a 127 ERA+ but due to his lack of strikeout ability, his 4.14 FIP mark trailed his results by a large margin. Wacha, a long-time St Louis Cardinal, was a solid starter through 2018, after which point he began to struggle, posting three consecutive well-below-average seasons. Weirdly, not long after his ERA began to rise, he cut way down on his walk rate. His decline falls in line with a drop in his fastball velocity; at his peak, he had a 94-95mph fastball that has dropped into the 93mph range over the past several seasons. Wacha would likely be available on a one-year deal, two at most. View full rumor

  16. There are so few data points that being concerned about this doesn't make sense. In fact, unless I'm forgetting something there's all of one data point on this. Byung-Ho Park. And he shared basically zero attributes with Ha-Seong Kim.
  17. I suspect that at this point, they're looking to stock the farm but who even can predict anything AJ Preller does.
  18. The Padres have a glut of talented infielders and their situation only grew more complicated with the signing of Xander Boegarts earlier in the offseason. Unsurprisingly, reports are now emerging that they're taking calls on young shortstop Ha-Seong Kim. The return on Kim would likely be significant. He's 27 years old and under team control through the 2026 season. In only 267 games played, Kim has accumulated 7.1 bWAR, including 5.1 in 2022 alone. Kim was a standout player in the KBO (Korean Baseball Organization), where he played nearly 900 games while posting an .866 OPS. The Padres signed him out of the KBO only two years ago and it's not a stretch to suggest he may not be happy with a bench role given his MLB production thus far. What would it take to trade for Kim?
