  1. My understanding is that he's the only doctor the Mets used.
  2. Oh, I think the entire Mets situation feels skeezy as hell. The more we find out, the skeezier it seems. After the dust has settled, Correa landing with the Twins seemed inevitable, as they were the only front office seemingly on the up-and-up. The trust they established with Correa over the past year likely paid big dividends.
  3. What I find weirdest about this situation is that the Mets, after Correa's deal with the Giants fell through, turned around and called the same doctor the Giants used. What outcome did they expect, really?
  4. Oh, the Gallo signing irks me far less in the wake of the Correa signing. It was a fine move - basically use Gallo to replace Kepler and then dish Max for something else. But in that moment, it felt like the front office was just spending money because they had money. Thankfully the biggest free agent circus in history came to town and they were able to do something with the rest of that money.
  5. At this point, Gallo's upside is astronomically higher than McCutchen's upside. I didn't really like the Gallo signing - particularly the way the offseason was going at that point - but I watched 100 games of McCutchen last season. I have little interest in seeing him play more.
  6. It was widely known that Andrew McCutchen was sought after as a righty bat that could play a decent corner outfield - even in his older, diminished state from earlier stardom - but after a long career that saw him play in San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee - it appears he just wanted to go home to Pittsburgh. Which makes a lot of sense given how he came up through the Pirates system and thrived there during his prime seasons, becoming one of the best players in baseball. To add a "farewell tour" vibe to the equation, Buster Olney of ESPN pointed this out earlier today: It would have been nice to see McCutchen fill a badly-needed void in the Twins roster but it's hard to argue with that reasoning.

  8. This isn't real, locking it. The guy has 14 followers and is likely a bot.
  9. Well said. Bauer is a notorious problem in the clubhouse and on the field. And that was before the sexual misconduct allegations. And it appears he hasn't changed even a little bit. If anything, now he's more vocal. Hard pass as hard as one can pass on something.
  10. I mean, this is a way to spend money. Is it a good way? No. Is it an efficient way? Definitely no. But it is a way.
  11. I don't think this is true at all. Based on what I've heard, I think the Twins have a 50% chance of signing Correa, it really depends whether Cohen is going to step in and just say "yes" despite him leaning toward "no" publicly. But hey, he's Steve Cohen and he's worth something like $15b. He says yes one minute, no the other, The Twins can't compete if he's in a good mood in the moment and sticks with it through the signing period.
  12. I think they have a legitimate shot at Correa. Whether that's a 33% chance or a 60% chance, I don't know. But with reports of the Mets being "frustrated" at the exact same moment I'm hearing positive things about the Twins' negotiations with Boras, it leads me to believe the Twins have a legit shot at getting this done.
  13. Oh if they miss on Correa yet again, they'll be skewered by the fanbase and I'd argue it's very well-deserved.
  14. Haven't heard anything in hours. This isn't surprising, as we all know Carlos Correa only signs contracts between midnight and 4am.
  15. If the Twins sign Correa, these are the options: They're a blind squirrel that somehow always manages to find the nut They have a very specific crystal ball that only shows them the near future of Carlos Correa (and maybe Laverne & Shirley re-runs) There is no third option.
  16. With Boras, who knows. He doesn't give up without squeezing every last dollar out for his client.
  17. Yep, the Twins. I'm hearing somewhat vague details but my gut is saying the Twins land him. I keep hearing enough information to believe the biggest stumbling blocks have been cleared and they're down to arguing about dollars.
  18. I think they’ve agreed on years but not dollars.
  19. This is probably Stu’s finest work yet. I lost it at this: I asked them to clarify, and they said ‘This is the Book of Revelations, Phil.’
  20. Second hand information from the other owners who are connected to the team.
  21. I can't really say what I've been hearing but I'm personally becoming convinced this is actually going to happen.
