  1. This piece is actually by John Bonnes FTR. There was an error in the last piece and I had to re-post his content so the audio would work.
  2. We're trying something new for Twins Daily's Caretakers: an audio report from John Bonnes on what he's seeing and hearing from players, coaches, and management inside Hammond Stadium. Today's report includes: News on Jorge Polanco's slow ramp up in spring training, and whether is knee is already a concern Emilio Pagan's offseason, and why his first bullpen session was so encouraging Thoughts from pitching coach Pater Maki on camp and how the Twins are adjusting to the new pitching clock. If you're a Caretaker, just scroll down for your exclusive content! And if you're not, maybe consider becoming a Caretaker? You likely visit regularly, and that's going to become even more likely as the season gears up. Supporting something you value feels good, especially when it's been here feeding your baseball habit for over 10 years for free, right? We're in spring training reporting because we love this stuff, and we want to share it as much as we can, so you can find lot of free content from Fort Myers other places on the site. But unfortunately, spring training is expensive, and that's especially true this year after Hurricane Ian damaged a lot of the lodging options. Plus, there are lot of other benefits, like a free Winter Meltdown ticket and early access for guest, special callouts on the site, and lots more inside or in-depth content like this. So please consider joining our little club. The money is going to a site you love, to support coverage you love, and writers you value. Thank you so much. 3. Who is this @Ted Wiedmann person and why wasn't he writing for this site a long time ago? 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 Outstanding work!
  4. Twins Daily is a partner with FOCO products and earns products for any affiliate purchases you make, 100% of which is returned to our users in gift form. Any support you provide is support of the Twins Daily community itself! To celebrate the return of baseball, FOCO is releasing a Spring Training Bobblehead Collection that features commemorative team bobbleheads, mascots, and some of the game’s best players from the Grapefruit and Cactus Spring training leagues. The commemorative player bobbleheads in the collection feature spring training league logos across the body and head. They all stand atop a plate themed base with various thematic elements from the league that they play in. The player and mascot bobbleheads are also on a base with various thematic elements from the league they play in and their names are displayed in front. The commemorative generic players will retail for $75, the mascots for $70, and the athletes for $80. All of the bobbleheads in the collection are limited to 144 units and stand at 8" tall. These unique bobbles will only be available for a limited time so check them out! FOCO Spring Training Bobblehead Collection
  5. John will be down there for close to a month, I believe, but won't be covering the team the entire time. Nick, Seth, and Parker will also rotate in and out over the next six-ish weeks.
  6. In general, optimally I want to see zero left-handed bats in the lineup against a lefty starter unless they're Mauer-level. And with Taylor and Farmer on the same roster, I'll be very disappointed to see Farmer on the bench and Gallo/Kepler in the outfield against a lefty.
  7. There aren't many left-handed starters but the Twins will still face a lefty starter ~40 times in 2023. Do we really want Kepler and Gallo starting those games? I sure don't, give me Kyle Farmer every time.
  8. Who should start in the OF against left-handed pitching, though?
  9. The team wasn’t overrated, they just didn’t have any good healthy players left by the time they reached the postseason.
  10. There are no winners here but Olive Garden is far and away the least offensive option listed.
  11. Javy Baez at every position because good lord that would be entertaining.
  12. About six months ago, my wife had the idea "let's go to Applebees and only order appetizers!" Neither one of us had been in an Applebees in over a decade. It was a terrible experience. Terrible. If you find yourself looking across the strip mall longingly at an Olive Garden, you know you've made some truly bad decisions with your life.
  13. I bought a bunch of SRO tickets last year and basically sat wherever I wanted at every game. I'd sit in a spot for an inning or two and then move on to another spot. An usher spoke me to about it once or twice but never asked me to move. As for parking, the little grey dot (next to Cradle Club title) on 2nd Ave in this image is an entry point to Ramp B.
  14. It's the middle of winter. No one is expected to use their brain in February.
  15. I'm pretty much over Max Kepler and the acquisition of Joey Gallo isn't my favorite but going all in on "the best defensive outfield alignment in MLB" isn't the absolute worst idea ever. I just wish it wasn't built around two infuriating-to-watch lefty bats.
  16. He's had constant issues, can't remember the details. I think he only crossed 100 IP in one season... maybe 2021? And that was split between the minors and MLB.
  17. It is. I'm really skeptical of Ober being able to pitch one full season, much less multiple full seasons. He simply hasn't done it.
  18. I have no idea but given his size and delivery, I suspect a move to the bullpen won't be all that beneficial for him. So I'm fine trying run him out there every fifth/sixth day for awhile longer to see what happens.
  19. Well, I see all of you wasted NO TIME AT ALL learning how to hammer that "disagree" reaction.
  20. Gleeman has stated they have punted on the question but that could just be them assuming somebody is going to get hurt before it becomes a real option.
  21. In 2021, the Brewers were wildly successful with a six man rotation and would have done it again in 2022 if not for injuries. In 2022, the Astros were wildly successful with a six man rotation. Honestly, I think the bigger indictment of the front office is that they're not strongly considering a six man rotation.
  22. Ober has an option remaining, though, and it's unlikely all six guys make it to Opening Day healthy. Personally, if that magically happens, I'd open the season with a six man rotation.
