Someone suggested opening up a game thread for the Pirates-Reds game so we can cheer on some ex-Twins. I didn't do any of Brian's work, but here it is if you want to partake.

Has to be electric in Pittsburgh .... such a long time since they've played in October.

I tuned in to it late and only saw his second inning, and the first called strike on Phillips had me muttering that if the umps had given him the outside strike when he was in Minnesota things might have gone differently. But the rest of that AB and the other two, Liriano completely earned.

The Reds & Pirates have played each other so much recently. Very weird to have a play-in game between the 2 teams.

LOL. I'm from the sticks of Iowa so things like fun-see are pretty foreign to me.

 

September was just a really long month -- maybe one of the longest in my 48 years of Twins fandom. And I have a feeling I'll be wathcing a lot more Royals and Cardinals games next summer.

If I remember correctly, they said the Pirates were encouraging him to induce more ground balls - pitch to contact.

Yeah, but we've the Reds' setup man, in Burton. They can just eat their hearts out. And if the Pirates need a #5 starter in this game, well, we've got theirs - too bad for them, no backsies.

I looked up his career splits, and sure enough, the 4th inning was easily his worst.

I don't keep up with the National League and was about to ask whether the Pirates lost any games this season, but this statistic gives me pause.
