Deduno seems to be the only consistant starter right now. Boy, if the twins could only have more consistantancy from the starters they would at least be more competative, and actually be able to compete with the Royals at the very least.

I completely agree, I wouldn't surprised to see some early inning jitters with it being his 1st ML start, but from talking to him and seeing him throughout the year he appears to be very relaxed on and off the mound. He was called for a balk during one of his last starts which allowed a run to score. Rather then yelling at the ump, he pitched his way out of trouble and talked to the umpire during the half inning. Throughout the entire conversation he was very cool and did not get thrown out of the game and still got his point across. It's not often a pitcher talks to an ump without getting thrown out, but Albers was able to do it.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 We are now approaching 4 starts for Albers in the majors. So far he has faced James Shields, Chris Sale and is scheduled to start against Justin Verlander in his next bout. Welcome to the majors!
The Wise One Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Albers will pitch against the Tigers. I am sure that Martinez will be batting rather than Verlander.
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Looks like the Tigers caught up with him in the 6th today, but man was it fun watching him work through Hunter, Cabrera, and Fielder with two on and nobody out in the fifth. He is one crafty lefty. First time I've seen him pitch.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Albers is a great story, and he deserves a shot on a 90 loss team. But he's not part of a starting rotation on a playoff caliber team, he doesn't have the stuff. No offense Tim Laudner, I guess I'm just a 'knucklehead'!!
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Maybe he should become a pitching coach, because he sure has a few clues on what that entails.
Marta Shearing Provisional Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 From what I've seen through four starts, I think Deduno & Albers could be solid 4th and 5th starters on a playoff team. Unfortunately for us, they're currently our 1 and 2 starters. What an indictment on Ryan.

Unfortunately for us, they're currently our 1 and 2 starters." Now they're complete non-factors. I can see Deduno and Albers being complete non-factors next year. We are stuck in a cycle...
