Even if it's a long yard and you hand it to the RB, you put in your jumbo package and line up under center. Lining up in shotgun pretending a pass was an option was never going to fool anyone. At least, not when you're the Jets and your QB is Geno Smith.

It can't help that they haven't invested any draft picks into the offense to help Jayden Daniels, and then promoted a guy from within to be the OC. A guy with no play calling experience.

I'm guessing Dan Quinn will be a hot commodity next year though. As some team's DC.

I didn’t get to physically watch the game today, but by some miracle Wentz didn’t have any turnovers.

He had one bad pass early that should have been picked. I recall an inaccurate pass that Jefferson didn't catch, but normally does. Jefferson also dropped a TD that was a tough catch, but one he always makes.

Also there was one scramble play where Wentz threw to an open area to the sidelines, but Addison bizarrely looked for it over his inside shoulder instead. And thinking of these, they all seemed to kill the drives. Oh, and Brandel's terrible snap over Wentz's head killed the second drive.

Absolutely no special sauce from Wentz, but yeah, normally you worry about the turnovers due to trying to make hero plays. But the ball was wet all game, and Williams seemed to be more impacted by the rain than Wentz. So game-manager Wentz was probably the conservative and smart decision from KOC. So kudos to both for reigning in their worst impulses?
