I was hoping Roden was a trading chip to balance out the respective FO's views of the trade, and would be used during the off-season in a package for something more useful than another lefty-hitting corner OF.  I doubt they'll ever be candid enough to explain what they were really intending.

I'd bet good money Emma is up before Jenkins. And we don't see Jenkins this year (i'd bet less money on that).

I don't think at that time they assumed Larnach would be back. That's my guess. Which is the main reason why I was so surprised Larnach was even tendered. 

Now, the glut/surplus of AAA to AAAA level outfielders at St. Paul and currently in the majors is weird after going the trade deadline without moving any.
