Can't fathom how Chafin was picked up on a MiLB contract. My guess is he just pushed for too much for too long this season. Also can't understand how people are negative about this. It's not about ERA. It's ERA, FIP, xFIP, career vs. lefties, career vs. righties.

last 2 years ERA 3.69
last 2 years FIP 3.69
last 2 years xFIP 4.00
last 2 years xERA 3.82
last 2 years SIERA 3.87
last 2 years K/9 = 10.60
last 2 years BB/9 = 5.00

last 1 years ERA 2.41
last 1 years FIP 3.51
last 1 years xFIP 3.95
last 1 years xERA 3.44
last 1 years SIERA 4.11
last 1 years K/9 = 9.62
last 1 years BB/9 = 5.08

Career FIP 3.03 vs. lefties and 3.52 vs. righties

Like what do people want? He hasn't had less than a 0.4 fWAR season since 2020...

This signing is further evidence the Twins are trying to trade Larnarch within the division.  Probably the Royals.  Look at that OF!  Now they have pre-nuetralized him before the trade which kinda tips their hand.  But now knowing how Larnarch hits against lefty relievers they are now free to trade intradivisionally away.  Stay tuned ...

Cleveland is another team that has struggled against left handed pitching for years. Having three or four lefties in the 'pen against the Guardians is probably a good strategy. Three teams that are heavily right handed are Houston, Toronto and New York (Yankees).

I like his signing a lot.  He is as good of a get as Taylor Rogers.  Maybe even slightly better since it's a minor league signing and doesn't take a roster spot.  His control seems a little iffy at worst

The Pablo injury will open up one spot on the 40-man. It is a near certainty that the Twins will bring someone on a minor league deal north. I believe Hendriks and Chafin have automatic opt-outs since they have over six years of service time and were on a major league roster when the season ended.

Hopefully that opened spot goes to Giolito or Littel or Scherzer.

Kenny Powers.....

He needs to start screaming "YOU'RE F'IN OUT" after a strikeout.....LMAO

Kenny Powers, yes of course, but there's something else out there. I'm still trying to decide between Doug Jones or Pete Vuckovich.  I'm thinking the latter for over all vibe, but there's something about the Phillies era Jones...
