The Twins come in at #21.

Within the next month or so a host of publications will throw out their best guesses for where each team stands among the 30 MLB clubs. Twins fans should probably expect an average somewhere in the middle ten of all organizations.

These rankings are not a big deal. Production from individuals from the system is important.

Not surprising. The people that get excited about the Twins system focus more on quantity it seems. I focus on quality, players who can be difference makers. In this regard I see Walker Jenkins. K Culpepper has a chance to be a competent big league SS which is valuable. GG and EmRod have enough warts that they won’t be difference makers in the show. After that you are going to A ball for Tait which is miles away. This isn’t to say that an unheralded prospect or two pop up and have a run and provide depth. I’m actually most excited about the group of starters that are kind of between prospect and big league status. It’s not unlikely that one of them becomes a really good pitcher and several add good depth to the pitching staff. But I’m sorry I’m not going to get excited about prospects whose ceiling is replacement level or slightly above.

I kind of focused on position players but want to acknowledge Dasan Hill and Charlee Soto. They have the tools to do stuff but A ball is so far away that anything can happen.

I don't know what to make of being ranked #21 here but #8 elsewhere, like ESPN.

I'd expect there to be some variance, but top 10 vs bottom 10 is quite the range

The only knock Law pointed out was the ability to stay healthy.  That is the major reason they are ranked so low.  Here is a quote from the ranking:

"The Twins would be much higher if they could just keep their best guys healthy. Two of their top three prospects have missed time every year with injuries, but I still see so much offensive potential in Walker Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodriguez that I just can’t quit them."

Virtually all of the guys whose names are popular (Law, Longenhagen, McDaniel, etc.) place primary importance on those players they believe will be effective MLB players. They place less emphasis on guys who may get a cup of coffee. Talent, specifically reaching that talent, is what the writers and prospect gurus focus on with the players.

Any time a writer puts up the lists, there are strong opinions and disagreements with more than a few people suggesting that one writer or another has a dislike of a team. This actually makes for some humorous comments on national sites, as people bemoan the fate of their favorite clubs.

I'm just hoping the Twins prospects can bust out, get a chance to play and roll with their opportunity.
