I'd rather lose ten games with McCarthy than win ten games with Cousins, simply because to someday win a championship, they have to figure this out.

I don’t agree with this. Our roster is full of veterans expecting to win. It’s a disservice to those guys wasting one of their last remaining years of their careers on a QB that may not be ready. We have 2 more cheap years + 5th year option of McCarthy to figure out if he’s the guy.

For those guys isn't anything less than a championship a wasted season? I can't imagine anyone thinks Cousins can do that.

Also, I'm not sure it's a given that Cousins is any better than Wentz. If I had to bet I'd say he is, but we haven't seen him do anything since he was benched. If that noodle arm we saw at the end of last year was what we can now expect from Cousins going forward, he's toast.

I was expecting good and bad this year from JJ.....but that was worse than I expected. Sigh.

Also, hurt again.....not a good sign.

100% annoyed he didn't play more in the preseason. 100%.

Winston is awful. Interception city.

Not a fan. They aren't winning it all with Winston. Don't give up the future for this QB. (even a 6th).

They aren't winning it all this year with any QB on roster or that's available via trade. We're talking about staying a float for the next 4-6 weeks until McCarthy is back. Wentz is going to torpedo our season.

To what end? I mean, yes, Wentz is not good....truly....but why do we care if we aren't winning it all with McCarty either?

I'm just going week to week Mike. I think Winston is better than Wentz to keep our season alive. I wish we would have signed Rodgers instead when he showed interest joining our team in the offseason.

I'd never root for them again if they brought in that Vax denier and generally evil person. Ever.

Looks like Cincy is also bidding on Winston

Winston is genuinely one of the most hilarious people in the NFL today but okay. What has he done to be an evil person? He hasn't gotten in trouble legally since college.

Rodgers. You said sign Rodgers.

Yeah, no thanks on Cousins or Winston.  The roster is already so devastated with injuries that trying to patch holes with trades is a mistake IMO.

At least if we are bad this year as McCarthy gets his feet under him.....we kept all our picks this year!

I agree that he held on to the ball too long quite often, but I don't think he did on the sacks. The first one looked like he got hit right at the 2 second mark and that was the most time he had.

Took me a minute, but the first sack was shown twice for some reason.

Two other sacks McCarthy had the wherewithal to get out of the pocket and run, but got caught before getting back to the line of scrimmage. I'm on board with those efforts; I'm fine risking giving up a yard or two if the reward for escaping is picking up ten.

The other three sacks he had less than two seconds; twice having about a second. The OL was awful. Might have been due to McCarthy not calling the right protections, but Skule and O'Neill were brutal in any case. The strip sack in particular was an awful look for O'Neill. He decides to double the nose tackle with Fries (who appears to the be lineman least in need of help), so I have to assume he thought Aaron Jones would pick up the 270 lb Zach Harrison running at full speed? And then even though he's double teaming the nose tackle, O'Neill still gets pancaked. Even if it was a blown protection call, O'Neill should have instantly understood he had to get hands on the the edge rusher.

I definitely think that strip sack was miscalled at the line of scrimmage.  That's a center/QB responsibility and I guarantee you if Kelly is out there they aren't sliding left in that protection.

I would, however, absolutely kill to see a three step drop and throw on a slant, quick out, or curl.

This is what we need to be doing. Wentz stinks

Winston would make games fun, but I don't think the winning kind fun. In terms of winning and losing, I'd guess the two are a push.

So if it's a push, I'll take Wentz because at least he has a shot to pull a Daniel Jones, getting a starting gig elsewhere and getting the Vikings a comp pick. Winston on the other hand will never be giving another NFL Day 1 starter gig, as evidenced by his lack of getting one since putting up a !5000K! passing yard season six years ago. The collective lack of confidence in him is staggering. But I agree, he's fun.

I like KOC....but this is the area he needs someone to help him with.  He's been better at running the ball (except for 1st and goal at the 2.  For ****'s sake hand it off).....but he simply need to develop a mix of short, quick throws into the regular play-calling.

Year after year we lead in this department.  No offensive line can hold for 4 seconds every throw.  You're going to make them look bad if you don't start punishing the defense with the quick game.

I'm sure it was, but at what point does the 8th year RT see an unaccounted for edge rusher coming to kill the QB and say, 'I better pick this one up because the rookie QB and Center clearly didn't read this right'?

Or was he trying to teach them a lesson?

It wouldn’t be a Vikings season without a mid season signing of Cam Akers… He’s back too.

I thought it would end up being Jamaal Williams. If only to mix it up this year.

As an OL you do the slide.  If he doesn't then he risks the larger human, who is even closer to the QB, possibly coming free.

You absolutely don't freelance on what you think is happening.
