farmerguychris Verified Member Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Lets be real -the only way we'll add someone who has a $6M payroll figure is if we trade someone like Vazquez along with at least $6M of his salary. Otherwise there's no point in dreaming.
Otaknam Verified Member Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Lewis is the potential face of the franchise. When healthy he can be dynamic. I can’t imagine any scenario where they trade him for a pitcher who was limited by injuries last year. A Larnach trade would need to include some other player with an upside, probably a young pitcher like Festa. Larnach and Julien wouldn’t get it done I don’t think. Maybe Larnach and Keaschall, though I don’t think they want to trade Keaschall, as he might be their solution for second.
JD-TWINS Verified Member Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Twins trading Wallner seems to me to be as likely as them spending $200M on payroll. LOCAL kid (26 yrs) with best Slug% on the Team, 2nd highest OBP with 2.2WAR in 75 games. Why would anyone, with any organization, trade that away? Eddie Julien being in the Majors with any team in ‘25 is not a high % prospect……. (in ‘24 he hit .199 with an OBP of .292 & a 74 OPS+ over 94 games - not an average defender at his primary position) Playing FIRST Base for anyone, including the Twins, is another couple standard deviations away from being real. Not sure why Eddie is being thought of as some plausible option at 1B……other than desperation? I hope he turns it around but my hopes won’t help him at all.
JD-TWINS Verified Member Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 2024 comps: WHIP 1.294 1.245 ERA 4.17 5.00 Innings 133 66 GS 28 16 $$ in ‘25 $800K $8.6M W-L 5-5 3-6 SO/BB 2.44 2.64 WAR. 2.00. .90 Age. 22 yrs. 26 yrs Luzardo is on the right……better stuff & ceiling is a given! Health, age, & cost……results……...I’ll keep SWR at this point. Theoretically, at same $800K, David Festa has a higher ceiling than SWR for ‘25. Morris - C. Lewis - Matthews - Raya at AAA, along with the Top 3 rotation guys Twins have, I am optimistic about the Twin’s rotation as is.
Steve Lein Twins Daily Contributor Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Luzardo seems like exactly the type of pitcher the Twins have been targeting because of the reduced cost associated with their injury-risk, and every single one of them has been an abject failure. No thanks. Especially if we're talking Lewis. If it's Lewis, there's several other pitcher's on the Marlins I would be targeting instead, and probably two of them at that.

mrcharlie Verified Member Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Ok. I'll bite. 1) twins rotation is one area that is in decent shape w depth and upside. 2) Lewis for those three is a dream. Lewis for Luzardo alone is questionable from Miami viewpoint. 3)if Larnach had a breakout season in 2024 then maybe we can look for him to be an MVP candidate soon. Yes, both laughable. Miami does have a player we can make good use of. Catcher Nick Fortes should be a target.
