Whitey333 Verified Member Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Todays Wednesday game against the Cubs shows so far why Baldelli is one of the poorest managers in MLB and one of the worst managers the Twins have ever had. His starting lineup is a joke. Sure don't need to rest star players with a day off Thursday. No it's not his fault that Ryan got hurt. But his mishandling of the bullpen especially leaving Richard's in so long is inexcusable! The only redeeming thing is the game is still early as of this post. 4th inning. How can u leave a pitcher in to give up 5 walks and 40 some pitches. Disgraceful!! h2oface and Shaitan 1 1

I'm reluctant to speak in the 'near absolutes' that you use. However, I find it very difficult to argue with the last part of your post.

KBJ1 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Richard's & Dobnak have been a disaster. If Topa isn't the same as last year, he will suck as well. With Lopez shuffling all year and now Ryan out, this pitching staff will implode. They will be back at 500 by September and out of the playoffs.
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 The Twins are going to need a long arm in the bullpen. Topa will help bridge the gap to Sands, Alcala, Jax and Duran and perhaps could bump Sands or Alacala down a notch. But a looming problem is the lack of a reliable long arm in the pen. If Ryan's out, and you figure best case, he misses a few starts, the Twins are facing potential short starts from SWR, Festa, and Varland. Bullpen is going to get taxed really quickly. If you had someone that could piggyback on those starters and give you 3-4 innings, you'd be in much better shape. But I don't think anyone like that exists for the Twins. Winder was good yesterday but he's not reliable. Dobber is less reliable than Winder, IYAM. Headrick is hurt. Paddack won't be back until September if at all.
