I agree. He rambles on about too many useless stats. "So-and-so is 4 for 9 in day games against teams with a bird mascot." Hopefully he'll learn with time. He seems like a good guy and is definitely good with game updates.

Concur with those who like Atteberry doing the studio updates (and postgame). I always look forward to having him do play-by-play, but then he does it and I’m disappointed. I often get the sense that he’s feeling like, “I did my homework and found this tidbit, so dad gummit, I’m going to make sure I use it.”

Spot on on both. It would take some interest on Gladden's part, but one hour with Elvis Martinez and he would have name pronunciation down pat. Come on, Danny, 30% of MLB players are Hispanic.

Now, what will Gladden do with two Lopezes on the roster...

Yes, and the thing is that Spanish is generally pretty phonetic, much more so than with English names. A ninth-grader with two weeks of Spanish I would do better with Spanish names than Gladden. That it would be relatively easy to improve that aspect makes it seem like it’s actually disinterest on Gladden’s part, which is unfortunate.

I’ve gotten to the point that I’m relatively ambivalent on Gladden when it comes to color, and he and Provus have a good enough rapport to make it work. It’s just that Gladden is SOOO bad when it comes to play-by-play that it’s hard to take him seriously on color.

When Provus and Atteberry are together, it almost seems palpable that Provus is able to relax and do his job, rather than having to do his own job AND bail Gladden out of his gaffes.

Last year, Apple TV made you create an account (name and email), but you didn't have to subscribe to anything to watch the MLB games. Hopefully that is still the same. No idea about Peacock.

Apple Tv games will not be free this year. Peacock you have to pay for as well.

Marney is going to be sidelined with cancer for a bit.

I recently learned that professional athletes, such as basketball players, love to play in casinos. Basketball players may enjoy playing online gamble games for various reasons, such as entertainment, stress relief, and competition. They should know from the example of this article  https://www.talkbasket.net/162615-what-basketball-players-need-to-know-about-cashlib-casino that Cashlib is one of the most convenient and modern methods of making a deposit today. This system can even be used on mobile phones and tablets, making it very convenient.

It's pretty sad

First of all, I like Dan Gladden on radio.  I agree he's not perfect and can be a little annoying but I like his inside stories and he isn't afraid to criticize the team when they need it.  Atterberry has a good voice, and does his homework well.  He is however very hard to listen to.  He rambles on and on about topics that many times have little or nothing to do with the game at hand.  He seldom takes a breath and is difficult to follow as you try to visualize the game.  I am always disappointed when I hear he is going to be on doing play by play.  Provus is awesome.  Love listening to him.  I'm not too excited about Bally's Twins tv package.  I'm like thousands of other Twins fans unable to watch them due to not having cable and going through 3 streaming options only to have each of them drop valley sports.  It seems like no one really cares about many of us twins fans that don't have an option to watch the Twins.

Same hear. I have the Bally streaming app for Wolves and Wild, I stupidly thought I could watch Twins games. Nope. I’ve never pirated cable programming, but I’m actually tempted to with this ridiculous situation the Twins and Bally have stuck us in.

The Twins finally fund a way to make me turn off a game on the Radio, Gladden calling the game solo today. Thankfully I only had to suffer through one inning before I got home and found it was on TV.

In one inning we got the following mistakes:

Billy Ober (2x), mentioning he was still in the running for a rotation spot, then a minute later announcing Rocco's rotation, which he was not listed in.

Brian Fuentes (was talking about ATL 1B Josh Fuentes

Error Adrianza

Missed several pitches, as you could hear the ump in the background calling ball or strike.

He is clearly in midseason form.

I think Gladden is excellent. He has an instinct for the game that most players and player-broadcasters do not. Play by play is not his strength and I think that people get stuck on that. But listen to him and Cory late in close games, when Cory is back on the mike and the two are talking game strategy and discussing which pitches might be thrown. It is an entertaining, engaging baseball education. Unfortunately theres not a lot of time between pitches anymore, so a lot of that is going to be lost.

That's exactly it right there. One may or may not prefer Gladden's cadence or interest in only certain topics, but my god, when he's on play-by-play his job is to CALL THE GAME. What's the point of listening to the game if I don't know the count? (Not to mention all of the other stuff he just plain forgets to mention - the outs, the inning, who's batting until it's like 2-1....). Plus, he's not exactly my cup of tea as a person; his rambling Twins Hall of Fame speech's bit about his wife's body was just....

Last year I felt he improved greatly. But this spring he has fallen back into his old habits. And honestly Herb and Gordo fell into these same habits towards the end of their careers. Mistaking new players for old ones (Nelson Liriano, I mean Francisco Liriano!). Gordo also would forget the count, etc. But Gladden has ignored the actual call of the game for years now. He m ddle innings are a trainwreck except when Provus starts talking about the actual game.

That was my problem with Vin Scully.

I'm a cord-cutter, and as usual I've waited til the last minute to figure out how I'm watching this year.  Last year I tried to make my stand and go radio-and-bar only, but only lasted a month before breaking down and getting Direct TV stream.

Near as I can tell my streaming options are Fubo at $85 or Direct at $109.00, and there's some Bally app that I don't understand.

I really hate the way this is handled by the Club and every year it seems to get worse.  What are you guys doing to watch the games?

It's not the club, it's Bally. The club signed a contract and are locked into it through the end of this season (finally!).

If you want a recommendation, Fubo is miles better than DTV, the most hated of all streaming services.

Welcome to TD!

I'm sort of in the same boat as a cord cutter.  I'm stubborn enough to not cave to pay anything more than I already am to get games.  As far as I'm concerned, I'm still paying for Bally's on Hulu since my subscription price never went down.  I listen on the radio or follow along on the At Bat app or gamecast depending on where I am.

So unfortunately, I can't really help you with your question.  But I can tell you that you are hardly the only one in that situation.

I've not been paying as much attention as I probably should, but has MLB figured out how they're handling the Bally's bankruptcy situation?

Nah, it's up in the air. Right now Bally is only defaulting on five... ?... teams while paying the rest. The Twins are not on the list of non-payees.

That would explain why simply trying to google search that hasn't turned up anything useful...

Neat!

Thanks.

Very complicated. Diamond (Bally) has missed payments to the DBacks, and it has until midnight (Wed, Mar 29) to make payments to the Padres.
If missed, MLB will appeal to the bankruptcy courts to take over some franchise broadcasts. Be prepared for rocky camera work if that occurs.

Yeah, but you know that she'll kick it and bring all sorts of positivity to cancer reseach and stuff. Marney is the best.
