Linus Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 That's probably the one I was thinking of - I always remember that landmark when driving from Fertile to Climax. Actually this is erroneous. What is true is that you get to Aitken before you get to Remer.
MilwaukeeTwins Provisional Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I didn't see much of the game, can somebody thoroughly explain what Hicks did tonight? Following Seth on Twitter makes it sound like Hicks will be sent down after tonight.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I feel sorry for TD members who have missed the past 2 game threads. Me too. I came in late just to catch up. The kid had a game tonight.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I watched on DVR, and now am catching up. My recollection is "Fertile woman marries at Climax" and that it was on the Tonight show. Hicks might be benched or worse. First of all, he's still not hitting and secondly, it looks like he's taking it with him to the outfield. He misjudged the ball he caught and flipped to Dozier. Joe Benson would strike out just as much but I think he has a better chance of getting a hit right now and probably would play a better CF.

Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I didn't see it live, but saw a replay of the Hicks flip from Parker's Twitter feed. What is the big deal? He was about 5 feet from Dozier. Much ado about nothing. Am I missing some context? I don't want to start bashing Gardy, but his reaction reminds me of Kelly near the end of his run. He seems like an old curmudgeon, especially when the team is up 6-0.

Gladden seemed pretty hot, too, more because of that than the catch.

He seems like an old curmudgeon, especially when the team is up 6-0.Maybe I'm missing context too. Was it like the infamous baserunning 'hustle' play where Hicks ended up in the right spot between 1st and 2nd on the dropped pop fly to center, instead of being gunned down at 3rd like Nickie 'fake hustle' Punto would've been? And a good call about Kelly. Live exclusively by the 'fundamentals', die by them too. If young players don't live up to Gardy's standards for playing the game right, he will surely lobby the front office to get them off his lawn.
Pius Jefferson Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Wow, just saw the replay. Gardy is a ****ing moron. I'd like to see him manage a team with Rickey Henderson's snatch catch and Vizquel and Ozzie Smith and Alomar in the infield. Bonds with chains and an earing. This guy doesn't have a clue. Yeah, I'm sure Gardy would read the act to four perennial all-stars who showed off on occasion.

ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Love the "Jenny, Jenny" reference! I sit ashamed, here the next morning, to see that I completely missed that.
