Otherwise the player gets dull. If I didn't do my job for 10 days, I'd be rusty. I'd imagine professional ball players suffer from this even more so, since it's much harder to play MLB than to manage a retail store.

S'ok, I forgot about the 3 years Dempster spent wandering in the wilderness as a reliever for the Cubs before he became a very good starter. Pretty uncommon career profile for a guy who profiled as a potential ace early in his career.
