Cleveland down two starting pitchers

Don't really like to see guys go down with injuries, but Cleve lost Plesac and Civale today. Both are on the 15 day IL. Plesac broke his hand and Civale has forearm inflammation. I'm sure those are season enders for those two pitchers. If we can hold our own the next 10 games, and stay in the thick of it, we can catch them.

That's a big loss, and I sympathize with the two pitchers, the front office who has to find replacements, and the fans.

Still, the cynic in me says that they'll simply reach down to their farm system and say, okay then, here's a couple of all-stars no one ever heard of before, to replace them.  One will be an untested and lightly regarded rookie who turns out to be ready, while the other will be exactly the right retread everyone else gave up on multiple times these past five years.  Picking names out of a hat... um... Peyton Battenfield and, er... old friend Ian Gibault*.  Because, why wouldn't they?
 

* I know, Gibault won't be a starter for them.  I picked him because of the twist-the-knife aspect and I just want to whine.  Maybe Tanner Tulley, instead.

Just saw that Plesac broke his hand punching the mound out of frustration in his last start. He had some swelling this week and that's how they discovered the fracture.

Plesac AND Civale on the same day? Yikes.
