Sox, Red:

0. Brayan Bello (R) P

1. Tommy Pham (R) LF

2. Alex Verdugo (L) RF

3. X. Bogaerts (R) SS

4. Rafael Devers (L) 3B

5. J.D. Martinez (R) DH

6. Trevor Story (R) 2B

7. F. Cordero (L) CF

8. C. Arroyo (R) 1B

9. Reese McGuire (L) C

Half way through the introduction..

It's like one arm of a shirt. Or one leg of pants. Or handing a lead over to your bullpen.

You can go on for me... Go on! What else is it like?

Are we half way though Byron's IL stint? (Notice, i just used half his name.)

And presumably i can only half pay attention to the game. I am in the copious  black out region of the visiting team. You all will have to be my eyes... Thanks in advance!

Twins,

0. Dylan Bundy (R) P

1. Luis Arraez (L) 1B

2. Carlos Correa (R) SS

3. Max Kepler (L) RF

4. Jose Miranda (R) DH

5. Nick Gordon (L) 2B

6. Gio Urshela (R) 3B

7. Jake Cave (L) LF

8. Gilberto Celestino (R) CF

9. Sandy Leon (S) C

Should and will are miles and miles apart.

Nothing I have seen from this team, this year, would ever allow me to say they should beat any team….

Yup. They should have won 3/4 from Texas and at least 3/5 from Detroit earlier in the year, but they didn't.

We have to somehow do it with Bundy and Archer going for us in the first two games. That might be a tall order. They need to step it up and keep us in the games. We also need to keep the runs crossing the plate. If we start using the feather dusters for bats again, it's not going to be pretty. Time is getting short.

I said at the time that DET sweep debacle is going to bite them in the butt come seasons end

So?  Does that mean you guessed correctly, or have ultimate inside baseball knowledge?

After this weekend, I feel increasingly confident that Minnesota will go deep into the playoffs and maybe win the whole thing.

Yes, Gopher volleyball could well be national champions.

How'd they do?

I wasn't paying attention...

That and the Pagan Cleveland debacle in a week, cost us what 4-5 games ?

Comparing those two line ups position by position is not enjoyable if you are a Twins fan.  Hope the boys can keep the hitting going tonight.

You're probably just intimidated by the pitcher with the 7.36 ERA. They always dominate the Twins!

They beat Baylor and TCU in their season opening tournament in Fort Worth.  Today's coaches poll ranks them #4 nationally, and they face #1 Texas Wednesday in Austin.  Conference play begins in late September, and the home match vs Wisconsin is already sold out.

For those who might like a snapshot of the remaining schedule (and even for those who don't want it), here's what I'm showing in terms of games remaining:

I was on the fence on whether to consider Boston a "contender" or "non-contender." It would simplify things for the Twins to go ahead and sweep these three in order to clarify that distinction.

thinking 21-15  gets us to 86 wins . will it be good ??

If, say, 17 of those wins come against Cleveland and Chicago, I'd think the odds are pretty good. ?

But 86 wins would require Chicago to go 23-11 to tie, which seems doubtful. Cleveland would only have to go 19-17 to tie, which is doable.

This team is so erratic that I'm not sure it matters which label you use.  Some days they look like they could beat anyone and others they look like they couldn't beat anyone!

I think 22 wins will be the minimum and the Twins will need to win at least five from Cleveland.

Sox and good hitting teams will still feast on this pitching staff.

I get your point, but good hitting teams will feast on most pitching staffs.  That's what makes them good hitting teams!

The Sox pitching staff is horrible, will the Twins feast?

Are the Twins a good hitting team?

not as constructed, and with the injuries

Then what's the connection between your first point and the second one?

They are going to have to score some runs to not get swept in this series.  Beating the Giants means nothing as they are a bigger mess than the Twins
