Well, the Correa signing claimed it’s first casualty for the Twins. Ralph Garza Jr. was claimed by the Red Sox and will head down the road to the Red Sox spring training site.

I think this a good pickup by the Red Sox who need bullpen help.  I think Garza can be a legit MLB reliever and I thought the Twins thought so too but I guess they like their waiver claim for Jhon Romero better.  I expected Romero to be the one waived not Garza so the Twins must like Romero's potential better even though he had a rough MLB experience his first time up.

I don't see Garza ever being elite so probably not a huge deal but other teams think he has value as well.  Will be interesting to see if he gets waived again.

Losing a reliever from the end of the bullpen is not a big deal, but I still don't really see why they didn't put Enlow on the 60-day IL to use his spot before waiving anyone.

I know being on the 60-day means being on the "major league injured list" and means Enlow would get MLB salary—so perhaps the Twins are trying to avoid that as long as they can, but it seems almost inevitable they would put him on the IL at some point and seems odd that a pro-rated portion of the major-league minimum salary would be enough to hold up other roster decisions.

Reports are that Enlow will be pitching in May.

It can also be a timing thing. As in, thinking you have a better chance of sneaking Garza through waivers at this point than at a later date. That both saves the 60-day IL strategy for later and, as Stringer said, preserve the possibility of Enlow pitching in May.

What happened?  Has an appearance where is removed after 1 pitch.  Probably ill or dehydrated.   Then dfa'd

Wasn't his 40 man roster spot a waste?

He did pitch an inning the next day, but was DFAed when the Correa signing was announced. Keeping not young bullpen guys on the 40-man is a challenge. The Twins risked Garza and he was claimed.
