My Dream

Okay here’s my dream for Twins moves to improve:

First, sign Trevor Story for SS

Trade: Kepler, Lewis, Varland, Enlow to Reds for Luis Castillo

Trade: Arraez, Larnach, Dobnak, Stotman to A’s for Frankie Montas

Trade: Sanchez, Woods-Richardson, Winder to TB for Tyler Glasnow (out for another year)

Sign Wilson Ramos as backup catcher

Sign OF’s Joc Pederson and Kevin Pillar

Sign RP Collin McHugh

That gives us our SS, an Ace in Castillo, a solid starter in Montas, a pair of OF’s to surround Buxton (who can also back him up replacing Kepler and Larnach), a reliable backup catcher, another nice piece for the bullpen, another potential ace in Glasnow for 2023. I would then use mostly Miranda at 3B, UTL INF in Gordon and Urshela, move Sano to DH and Kitilloff to 1B.

Yes it’s a pipe dream, yes we give up a lot, but we get back a lot as well. Don’t know how it balances out on value. We might as well use some trade chips so we can take advantage of having signed Buxton and acquiring Gray and shedding payroll.

The first three might be possible. I'm afraid that Sanchez, being a DH, is a sunk cost. Maybe he hits better in Minneapolis. Glasnow, Ramos, Pederson, Pillar,  and McHugh would be too rich for the Twins based on recent trends.

Sign Eddie Rosario. Make me care about the Twins again.

Then, yeah Trevor Story would be thrilling and welcome.

 

Also, need one more quality starter.

Maybe offer Toronto Austin Martin and RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson for Jose Berrios?

Of course not. You'd have to be a true idiot to trade Berrios for that little a return.

 

PS. The joke is that in July, the Twins traded Jose Berrios to Toronto for Austin Martin and Simeon Woods-Richardson. It was my snarky way of saying I wish they'd have signed him instead of making the trade.

1000% correct.  At the time, there were a couple questions, would you do the trade?  For me, it was absolutely NO.  

I don't understand how you can trade Berrios, not sign any of the free agent pitching, and claim with a straight face that you're trying to compete.

I'd settle for a beer and I don't even drink beer.  It seems that to many are hired and seem to have no common sense.
