Regardless of whether anyone is sold on his glove, I don't think there is any denying that he's improved greatly behind the plate. Credit to him for acknowledging the weakness and putting in the work to improve.

 

I do think he improved as last season wore on, but he was still a liability back there in September. I don't feel that way now. He's not the greatest defensive catcher in the world, but I don't feel that he's a liability either.

Between Swanson and Wes Johnson, the new FO has really gone "outside the box" when it comes to coaching.

His defense got better the moment he started putting one knee down. That let him get his glove lower, and get into better position for blocking pitches in the dirt. It also let him rest his legs; the squat is hard on a man's knees.
