Think about that. Baseball is so screwing the players, that a guy can't go to another country to work in his chosen field. Wow.

Right, because Japanese players can opt to come here anytime they want and just sign a contract. The MLB screws these guys so bad they only make 10X on average what players in the next highest paid country get for the same job. Just terrible how bad MLB players have it.

I kinda feel bad for the guy.  I'm sure he's just itching at finding a gig where he can get in 350-400 at-bats as DH with some major league squad without being yo-yo'd back and forth between AAA, The Majors and sitting on the bench.

Based on current activity, I'm guessing that opportunity doesn't exist and it's not because the system isn't fair.

When a company gives you years of on the job training (minor leagues), of which they are not yet making a profit off your services, I'm not sure it's unreasonable to have some type of non compete structure in place. Especially if those rules are known before a player agrees to it.

I don't think the Twins could stop Kennys from persuing any of the thousands of other career fields that exist, anywhere he wants to, just not the one that they spent several years and millions of dollars training him for.

Perhaps that non compete period is too long, but I don't think it's unreasonable to have one.
