Yanks vs Indians..WE DIDNT HAVE A CHANCE!

After watching the game tonight who can argue that we were even in the same class as either of these teams. Better pitching and more pitching and more pitching. We might have 3 pitchers that would even be on the rosters of the Yanks or Indians. We just didnt have the depth to compete. Next year maybe with May coming back, a front line starter addition and a bullpen overhaul we can be in the running. Position players on the other hand we can compete. Our Twins had a remarkable year and the young guns made great progress but the next step to the upper tier wont be easy.

If it were easy everybody would do it.

I agree we have a starting 8 that can win a WS. Bullpen, maybe with 100% health and all the good luck in the world the internal options could. Starters, good luck.

Since we were not expected to exceed 500 I would say this was an outstanding success and a great season of growth.  It is a platform and the Indians and Yankees have gone through that stage and moved way on - the Yankees did surprise, but their checkbook makes them in another league any way.

Predicting who will be better or worse next year is a real challenge for thinking about the next seasons record.  Our pitching is not ready to get us past this year's success and pitching is very hard to find and afford.   Look at David Price who is suddenly a very very expensive middle inning reliever.

The question is, can we develop Gonsalves, Romero and other top minor leaguers so that we can skip the frenzy of signing pitchers?  I hope so.

But beyond that I am just pleased to see such success this year using a roster from Terry Ryan and I hope the Falvey regime can put the next and better roster together so we can move into that next elite level.

Was thinking the same thing so I was enjoying living vicariously through the Indians last night watching Bauer shut down the Yankees.

The Twins were the "best of the worst" which isn't as bad as it sounds. Playoff berth or not, the Twins had a successful year.

Next year won't be as easy. There won't be ten mediocre-at-best teams in the AL for long, though the Twins are well-positioned to have an edge over most of the division for years to come.
