Just read an interesting article by Mike Berardino on Jeremy Hefner, Twins director on video scouting. You can read it here. http://www.twincities.com/2017/05/25/twins-new-scouting-role-making-an-impact-on-the-field/.

After reading it I have two thoughts. 1). He has been able to simplify the data available so that it's easily useable for the players. And 2). It appears that the Twins have made giant strides in using data to help the team. This is alll encouraging and I think this is has a significant impact on the team's performance. What say you?

It's hard for me to say much at this point: after all, this team is succeeding totally on the backs of players brought in by the previous regime. I don't think it takes an analytics to figure out where to put Miguel Sano or Max Kepler in this lineup. Maybe it's helped incrementally here or there with Santana's pitch selection, etc.

Something interesting from Gleeman and Bonnes' podcast recently: Sano, Polanco, and Kepler were all signed by Bill Smith. Not saying Smith should still be the GM by any means, but if any FO individual is going to get credit for the team's success this year...,it should probably be him.

Great article. Thanks brvama.

As a former pitcher I suspect he is better able to present data that is useful without information overload. Some Twins pitcher lately was quoted as saying his former team had 1.5 hours events where they went over all the batters the opponent has. Sounded dreadful.

Concise data in an easy-to-digest form is far more likely to help the pitchers.

Good stuff.

The title should start "Is", not "Are". The subject is singular. How's that for analytics?

You ask, the moderation team delivers.
