DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 If mixon is in the 5th round I think you have to take a hard look at him, he has top 15 talent. He won't last that long, someone will jump and take him in the 3rd. The only reasons I would consider mixon in the 5th is two fold: 1. He was only 18 at the time, I think he has grown up since then. (I do think he should have been kicked off OU for life though) 2. According to reports he may have been called the N word by the girl and her friends. This doesn't excuse his actions in the least, but maybe can help his defense that this truely was a one time massive mistake. Again I wouldn't be "happy" with them taking mixon, but for a 5th round gamble, but I think you have to consider it. Let's not pretend the Vikings are saints, they have had plenty of scum bags over the years....one of which just left, thank RocketPig. For mixons sake I hope he has changed, the last thing anyone wants is another Lawrence Phillips case.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 But Dave, you can't blast Peterson (rightly) and then find excuses for this guy. Lots of other talented RBs, don't even waste time with this moron.

The Vikings current RB depth is laughable. Also I do believe in second chances, imho Peterson ruined his 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances by refusing to ever admit wrong doing. In mixons case he at least seemed contrite, and hasn't had any issues since then. Don't get me wrong though, I think he should have been banned from OU and I do think banning him from combine is a right move. Also I think a 2 game suspension is warranted as well. But yeah, id rather they just go get a Jamaal charles, or Blount in the FA market and then draft a high upside guy in the late rounds.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I'm good with McKinnon and a rookie. Rookie RBs can contribute right away.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I guess I find hospitalizing a woman for multiple broken bones in her face to be pretty comparable.Well, I am not defending him. I just set them as very different acts.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I guess I find hospitalizing a woman for multiple broken bones in her face to be pretty comparable. Not to victim blame, but she wasn't exactly an innocent bystander, she was dropping the most racist word one can say directly at him. He deserves all the punishment he has gotten and will get over the incident. But she is trash her self and shouldn't be dropping N bombs like that. Period.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2017 Author Posted March 12, 2017 Having a woman call you a derogatory name is still no reason to punch her in the face breaking multiple bones. I don't care if he's available in the 5th round, 7th round, or for $1, I want nothing to do with this player.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 McKinnon is terrible though.. disagree completely. He was pretty good 2 years ago, when he wasn't running behind that horrible OL of last year. And, he can catch and run.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I think McKinnon can be decent as well. Not a long term answer, but decent enough. Better than anything available in FA. (Including Peterson)
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 My fear, right now, is that AP will have no interest on the FA market, and the Vikes bring him back so he can "finish his career" in purple.

I share this fear. Though, if he's healthy and cheap, I wouldn't hate it, I don't think. I have no confidence in this coaching/Gm staff on offense at all. They have been terrible at scoring for more than a few years now. Terrible. Maybe they can get lucky with AP. doubt it, but maybe.
