Eighteen-year-old New South Wales native, Josh Guyer, has signed with the MLB franchise Minnesota Twins.

The hard-throwing pitcher is set to join the Minnesota Twins next April for Spring Training.

He is from Grant Balfour's hometown and his mechanics could use some help (those two things are unrelated) :

I love that they are going after these International guys. It's just like extra draft picks in my eyes. When you look at our top 20 prospects, five were signed as free agents vs. actually drafted:

#1 - Sano

#4 - Arcia

#7 - Salcedo

#11 - Kepler

#13 - Soliman

And let's not forget Nishi!

--For a young man who learnt his trade at his local Winston Hills Baseball Club, the signing means a lot to him and his dream of playing professional baseball.--

Is this really acceptable grammer for a reporter in Australia!?

It says he pitched 20 innings over nine appearances, if he's not starting in Australia, I'm assuming he won't be doing so here.

Actually, that's the correct usage of the word. North Americans are the only ones who use "learned" in its place most of the time, I believe. Most of the rest of the English-speaking world uses "learnt" in it place commonly.

And you can add Jorge Polonco to that list. On most lists he is also in top 20.
