Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Good question. I assumed it would be the same temp throughout the world, but that wouldn't make sense for Antarctica to be 75 and sunny. So we'll assume it's the ideal temp for whatever climate you live in.Then definitely no. Who gets to set what is perfect? Perfect for me is low 80s, lower humidity. That is not 'perfect' for Chicago the dates you listed.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Okay, whoever came up with this hypertherical didn't think this through.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Okay, whoever came up with this hypertherical didn't think this through. I guess you just volunteered.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I guess you just volunteered. It's why I used a smiley face ... so Van would know I'm being light-hearted about it and not pass the reins to me.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I'm laughing because this situation is humorous to me.

Some people may start wars to control the World's thermostat

Some people may start wars to control the World's thermostatYeah ... we have 'fights' over the temp at work. The men think it's too hot, the one woman thinks it's too cold. The winners are the ones who don't keep a blanket and heating pad at their desks for those days where it's just too cold.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Okay, whoever came up with this hypertherical didn't think this through. OK, next hypothetical: Would you rather discuss Van's terrible hypothetical or think up one yourself for us all to laugh at? Also, that wasn't hypothetical.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Okay ... is it hypertheticals or hypotheticals or is that dependent on the hypo/hyper-thetical itself? I'm just confused.

I'm just confused.Hypotheticals are like "What if the moon was made out of cheese?" HYPERtheticals are so in depth and insane, that you may go insane thinking about the answer.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Also, I just completely made up the last post.

HYPERtheticals are so in depth and insane, that you may go insane thinking about the answer. And for some of us it's a pretty short trip. At least that's what the voices said.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Here's today's question: Euphoria Forever: Imagine the following three sensations:1. Chewing and swallowing the first mouthful of your favorite food after starving yourself for 48 straight hours. The food is prepared exactly to your liking. 2. Lying down on an especially cozy bed after 12 hours of nonstop physical labor on a cold day.3. The first moment of urinary release after having held a completely full bladder for more than 90 minutes. For the rest of your life, you will feel one of these three ways, all the time. This is how you will always feel, 24 hours a day (you won't be doing the specific activity, but you'll always be experiencing the act's accompanying euphoria). Which euphoric feeling are you going to select?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 For me that's an easy choice ... #2. Not exactly why but I think 1 and 3 are more euphoria-like emotions, or pure joy ... whereas number 2 for me is total contentment. It's a really good long sigh moment which is more than the blissful food one or the euphoric release one. Heh, and saying euphoric release over and over ... well ...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 And I am totally without English lessons on that last response, but typing without a thumb gets in the way of clear thinking. (I sliced it open yesterday while slicing a cucumber.)
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I wouldn't do any of those things so I'll go with: 4) That first shot of whiskey after dealing with cranky customers and managers all freaking day.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Man, that is a good question, sir. I initially thought number 1, but then I recalled how nice it is to feel warm and comfy after a long, cold, day.....and then I recalled the feeling of RELIEF after the third thing, and then I got hungry and realized I ate all my snacks at work, and I was confused....where was I? Oh, right, I choose number 3. Totally.

I mean, not that I've never experienced #3, but all of these are just different levels(kinds) of euphoria. I don't think I could handle a lifetime of #3. I mean, that can be pretty intense. While a great feeling, I just don't think I could handle it for a lifetime. I wouldn't necessarily think of #2 as euphoric, but just a long sigh of contentment of being off my feet, finally. It's just a different kind of sigh. Maybe it's more about the pain leading up to the release that makes it different.

I actually considered that, what would be better forever, and I think number 2 is the right answer, but number 3 is the "best" of those feelings.

I'm not sure if that one would make a person lazy to the point of useless or clinically dead.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 To answer yesterday's question, I'm concurring with Chi and saying #2... Even though #3 is an immediate, gratifying feeling, there's nothing better than lying on an especially comfy bed after a long day.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 Today's Question: Vampire Weekend: It's the evening before your wedding. Everything is going as planned; you are spending the afternoon with a few old friends, chatting casually about old times. Suddenly, your spouse-to-be bursts into the room, totally hysterical. Your spouse-to-be insists that s/he has just seen a vampire. When you ask what this means, s/he says: "I was looking out of the window of my hotel room, and I could see into the apartment building across the street. That's when I saw the vampire. I saw a man in a black cape bite a woman's neck and drink her blood. I know this must sound crazy, but I am that certain what I saw is real." Your prospective (and sober) spouse is in a state of panic and pleads with you to believe his/her story. You can tell that this is really, really important to him/her. Knowing the fragility of the situation and the intensity of the timing, do you tell your potential spouse that you do, in fact, completely believe that s/he saw a vampire across the street? All of your old friends are watching this conversation.
