Wow, 15 guys on the 40-man here. Not evening considering futures for Pressly, Rogers, Centeno, Gibson.

If you truly believe in the farm system at this point, you must go forward and supplement your roster with waiver claims and lowend free agents to get you to the competitive state (i.e. when the kids start to shine for sure, maybe). Similar to what Ryan did with the bullpen this season, although it backfired as it looks like NONE of the relievers will get much of a shot this year and it won't be until sometime next season that we start to see them dribble in.

This is a good reason to come to TD.   When you suggest to have a 25 man roster of AAA players it should take away your right to ever complain of losing or the management of the Twins being idiots

There are definitely reasons to overhaul this team but...

Be reasonable. If Ryan moves 3-4 guys this deadline, good. If he moves 2, not quite as good but acceptable.

But expecting a team to turn over half their 25 man in a month is simply not going to happen.

If I say to the person that they should not ever complain about losing if they trade away 1/4 of the 40 man I don't think I am supporting the idea.  Unless somebody believes a Twin's pitcher  will do remarkably better for them than the Twins or Ryan gets blown away by an offer for Suzuki or Dozier I kind of doubt you will see much trade action this month.  Like it or not, Suzuki may get the AB to get the automatic cheap contract for next year. Not much alternative out there.

This issue for Dozier (to me at least) comes down to whether or not he can help when this team is competitive again.  I have to think that with 2016 being as it is, 2017 won't be that good, which means Brian's final year is the only year where there's a possibility of fielding a competitive team with him on it.  That begs the question (in my opinion at least) of should he stay or should he go.  I really think a trade there should be explored.  I'm not sure Polanco can match Dozier's numbers in 2017, or possibly even ever, but he should be a decent 2B and he's under control for quite a bit longer.  Polanco can be a part of the future, Dozier likely won't be.  I think I trade him, though I do agree with Brock that it's quite possible this is an offseason move.  It certainly won't be a post July move as he won't clear waivers.

Abad only has value because he's a lefthanded reliever.  Carly Rae has zero value as far as I'm concerned.  Twins would be stealing if they found someone to take him off their hands.  Every time I see talk of a Suzuki transaction, I continue to curse Bill Smith for trading Wilson Ramos away years ago.  As far as Dozier is concerned, if Polanco is ready, then I think you try to make a play.  But we've seen what can happen when we rush the kids (Hicks, Bux) that aren't quite ready for MLB pitching and I'd hope they wouldn't do that with Polanco this year and thus, wait until the offseason to move Dozier.  But this team is such a mess right now that there really doesn't seem like a fix out there that can translate to a happy 2017.

EDIT -- This just in, Carly Rae has been DFA'd.  About damn time.

You listen on Dozier. You maybe even put out your own feelers on him. (Novel idea huh?) And you probably move him if the return is a good one. More and more, I'm thinking you HAVE to find room for Polanco, play him just about everyday SOMEWHERE to see what you have. And moving Dozier may be a better offseason move.

I'm torn on Nunez. Single season aberration or not, he's a useful bench option at worse, IMO. With Plouffe invariably gone, Nunez could be nice to have around if you would truly think about moving Dozier.

I believe respect and reputation and a shortage of catching should make Suzuki marketable, just not a high return. Go with Murphy and Centeno, and look for a 3rd option. Maybe someone stuck on the bench who hasn't yet lived up to expectations and needs a change of scenery.

I still believe Jepsen needs to go one way or another. So does Nolasco. But if you were to trade Santana AND remove Nolasco...can't believe I'm saying this...but your rotation may be an even bigger mess than it is now. I'm not opposed to removing both, and you open a 40 man spot for Wheeler obviously to get a look-see, but at some point, you almost have to sign or trade for another SP then.
