Thought I'd try find a landing place for the pregame blogs I write when I'm covering.

Here's tonight's. It got a bit longer than I'd have liked, but meh....

I'll just post them in this thread and hopefully can get some more eyes on them.

If you have suggestions about styling, please feel free to say so!

This is excellent work.  Lot's of good information and well written.

How often do you write these?  And maybe you could sign up to do a setup for one of our daily game threads.

I'd say it's easier now for Molitor to say Sano not in the outfield as Kepler is here to stay for a very long time.

That was a great write up Brandon.

Thanks. My goal is to do something different than the Strib-PPress folks. They do a great job, and if I can't beat them at their own game, I might as well find my own, right?

I'm also doing game stories -- but unlike those you'll see on the Strib or PPress.

Last night's was my best one of the year. Please check it out and leave comments if you wish:

I agree with Mike, very well done.

I was sitting in RF last night and had a good angle on the Buxton "error" play.  What Dozier and Polanco were doing made no sense at all.  From my view, it looked like they were lining up to cut to third, but there wasn't going to be a play at third.  As you stated, Morales was meat at 2B if the infielders did their part.  Buxton was right, the infielders were wrong.  Unfortunately, somebody has to receive an error on that play and since Buxton was the last to touch the ball, it stands to reason he'd be given the error.  It's a bunk error, but I don't know who else you give it too.  An error has to be charged on that play, in my view.

Based on where Morales is standing when the ball comes in, I feel like you could give him a double. I certainly am not on the list to pinch hit for official scorers, though.

I'm not sure I agree with that.  He stopped mid-way, IIRC.  Secondly, looking at the picture in your post, the ball would have beaten him to the bag easily, to the point where the only way he's safe is if an error occurs or Morales makes an amazing slide attempt.  He's out by more than a handful of steps.  The ball has already passed Dozier and looks to be on or near the dirt.  Morales is a little further than halfway to the bag.  Buxton would have been out in all likelihood in that situation.

Agreed though, I'm not on the PH list for official scorers either.  <shrug>

Oh I'm definitely not saying he'd be safe, but it wasn't because of Buxton's throw. Hell, if it was dodgeball rules Buxton could have pegged him (lol)

Ha!  I wonder if this team would be any better at dodgeball.

I wasn't trying to suggest that you were implying he'd be safe.  We're definitely in agreement there.  I'm merely arguing that an error has to be charged in this instance.  It's a pretty tough error to be given to Buxton, and it's certainly not his fault, but I think it was scored correctly.  The actual error was definitely committed by the middle infielders though.
