Game Thread: Twins vs. Rays, 6/4 @ 3:10 pm CT

[David HK]

Technically it wasn't a wild pitch because the runner did not advance.

Had he raised his head from his 2nd base pillow, he would have.  I guess we could call it a 'wild pitch opportunity.'

[operation mindcrime]

They played "let's give them something to talk about" yeah how bout another loss!

[hybridbear]

It's totally precious that the Rays are having a meeting on the mound like they're super worried about a big Twins rally.     What a polite bunch of guests.

And they did it again now in the 9th, as if they're afraid that the Twins would come back from a 4 run deficit with 2 outs hahahaha

great, and per twinsnorth49, I just opened a tab

[LaBombo]

Well, a tiny silver lining in this gi-normous thunder cloud today.  Nice to see Bux squaring that one up.

I'm still kind of happy every time he goes to the plate without conking himself in the head.

On the other hand,   it looked like the only reason he slid into second on his stolen base was to avoid showing up the catcher and pitcher.

What a polite young man.    And neat too.

[Blake]

Oh one of those!

I haven't seen one of those in ages and I missed it!

#&:@#!&@*}# !

I remember the first time I saw a wild pitch during an intentional walk..it was then I realized why pitchers have to throw the ball rather than just awarding the base.

[David HK]

Man, our one All Star had a heck of a good AB there.

[hybridbear]

A 10 pitch AB for Nuñez that ends in a walk, nicely done. Too bad it's during garbage time.

And isn't this something that the competition committee has discussed changing?

[GCTF]

Twins have the tying run on deck in Les Nessman Brian Dozier

[jimmer]

yes

Nah, that one's been beat to death.

[hybridbear]

This is a save situation now, right? Because the tying run is in the on-deck circle? Or am I remembering the rule wrong.

[hybridbear]

Another run! Wow!

[Blake]

And isn't this something that the competition committee has discussed changing?

No idea, but I think eliminating throwing the ball for an intentional walk is foolish.

I'd say Ted Baxter. Better hair.

Nice to see Dozier build off that momentum!

Save situation is tying run in the hole.

[operation mindcrime]

See ya tomorrow around 1:10

[LaBombo]

"You maniacs!!!     Damn you for getting our hopes up!"

[ashbury]

Park with a case of Dozieritis!

And Dozier with a case of Buxtonitis to end the game.

_{^{/ and yes, North, I see the 2-4 beside Buxton's name today}}

[LaBombo]

I'd say Ted Baxter. Better hair.

And Dozier is every bit as flexible and adaptable at the plate as Ted was in the anchor chair.

[Pardon My Dinger]

who's the color guy today?

Hey hey hey. Watch the slurs.

Last night-  which would have been about 7AM for y'all.  With 150K or so other souls in Victoria Park, remembering Tiananmen Square.  I'm glad to share baseball losses here, to help take the edge off losses in another sense.

[sampleSizeOfOne]

Who's there?

(sorry for th nap delay... catching up...)

For.

[LaBombo]

I like that ESPN Gamecast always wraps up a Twins loss with this encouraging phrase:

"RECAP NOT AVAILABLE"
