Ichiro to Yankees - making NY an unlikely destination for Span?

Reported in other threads, but I thought it worth bringing up in its own right. Ichiro is with the Yankees now. If the Yankees had an interest in Span, it would seem gone now. I believe the "asking a ton" for Span quote was in the context of a Yankees source, so this all adds up.

Ichiro is done. 80 OPS+, no on-base percentage worth mentioning, diminishing speed... If the Yankees were in the market for that kind of player, no wonder they thought the Twins wanted "a ton" for Span. Unlike Ichiro, Span is not an awful baseball player.

The Yankees gave up crap for Ichiro and are only pay two mil on his contract. Maybe Ichiro will hit better in Yankee stadium, but the Ms got smoked for their icon player. Ichiro evidently wanted out.

Ichiro traded to the Yankees, who also received cash considerations, from the Mariners, who acquired reliever D.J. Mitchell and minor-league right-hander Danny Farquhar. Anyone know much about these two? What's this mean for Span's market?

I bet Ichiro suddenly remembers how to hit (and run) with the Yankees. Playing with all-stars can only help him.

I'm a huge Ichiro fan and I am actually happy for him (even though I hate the Yankees) dude deserves a shot at a ring.

Getting out of Safeco and into a situation where he's not expected to carry the team might be good for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up helping the Yankees a lot.
